Seeing pictures of Italy is enough to inspire romance in even the most sceptical souls. Whilst in Italy, in the space of 5 days I was lucky enough to witness a beautiful marriage proposal on the waters of Venice, a white winter wedding in Piazza San Marco and watched a romantic Roman experience of my own unravel. The scenery, the art, the history, the music, the food! I could carry on all day about my love affair with Italy, but instead, tell us about your Italian experience. Have you ever been to Italy? Were you present for something particularly romantic or a spectacular moment or event?
What is your favourite part of Italia? When is the best time to travel to Italy? And, if you are Italian, perhaps you can share some insider secrets about the less commercial gems and hidden treasures that Italy has on offer? Are you currently considering a trip to Italy? This could be the place to find the answers you seek. Have you already planned an Italian trip and need some advice? Share your Italian stories, knowledge and advice in this little Italian Piazza! Hi,
I'm Damian, its about time i stopped lurking. Italy.. While at the Trevi Fountain I was lucky to become part of a 'paparazzi mob' (encouraged by the official wedding photographer). Still have the pic of the happy couple and got no idea who they are. :-D
Ok the canals.. maybe it was the time i was there but they smell bad. Romantic.. not at all.
If you want a fairy tale proposal, i would recommend going to Tivoli Gardens (Copenhagen).. winter apparently it looks magical. Or if you really want something unique, go to North Cape (Norway), yep right up the top of Norway. They have this chapel in the underground facility that is full of colour.. or you could try outside in the midnight sun.

I'd like to leave you all with my last Random.
This is a poem my grandfather used to read to me and one I have loved my whole life. I think it ties in quite well with the Island theme. As a child I was there in that boat, on that island, at that wedding, dancing on the sand in the moonlight . . .
It's sweet, romantic, eccentric and adventurous. Love conquers all and crosses all boundaries. I believe this.
I hope you all find the love that you deserve and give it back multiplied by three.

The Owl and the Pussy-cat
By Edward Leah
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'
Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
'Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?'Said the Piggy,'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Friday On My Mind
By The Easybeats
U-Tube: /watch?v=7zB0RygrYy8
(It's hard to beat some of the classics!)
Monday morning feels so bad,
Ev'rybody seems to nag me
Coming tuesday I feel better,
Even my old man looks good,
Wednesday just don't go,
Thursday goes too slow,
I've got Friday on my mind
Gonna have fun in the city,
Be with my girl she's so pretty,
She looks fine tonight,
She is out of sight to me,
Tonight....I spend my bread,
Tonight...I lose my head,
Tonight...I got to get tonight
Monday I have Friday on my mind.
Do the five day drag once more,
Know of nothing else that bugs me
More than working for the rich man,
Hey I'll change that scene one day,
Today I might be mad,
Tomorrow I'll be glad,
I've got Friday on my mind,
Gonna have fun in the city,
Be with my girl she's so pretty,
She looks fine tonight,
She is out of sight to me,
Tonight....I spend my bread,
Tonight...I lose my head,
Tonight...I got to get tonight
Monday I have Friday on my mind.

Love Cats
By The Cure
U-tube: /watch?v=nbe47WQ6Rs0
Lovecats
We move like cagey tigers
We couldn't get closer than this
The way we walk
The way we talk
The way we stalk
The way we kiss
We slip through the streets
While everyone sleeps
Getting bigger and sleeker
And wider and brighter
We bite and scratch and scream all night
Let's go and
Throw all the songs we know
Into the sea
You and me
All these years and no one heard
I'll show you in spring
It's a treacherous thing
We missed you hissed the lovecats
(Ba ba-da...da da da da da...)
We're so wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully
Wonderfully pretty
Oh you know that I'd do anything for you
We should have each other to tea huh?
We should have each other with cream
Then curl up by the fire
And sleep for awhile
It's the grooviest thing
It's the perfect dream
Hand in hand
Is the only way to land
And always the right way round
Not broken in pieces
Like hated little meeces
How could we miss
Someone as dumb as this
I love you ... let's go
Oh ... solid gone ...
How could we miss someone as dumb
As this?

[Think I've taken over this blog for random acts of music . . . meh, why not?]
Okay - Friday night's random song iiiiiss . . .
This song and clip are great. I ADORE Goth in any form, and this clip speak to me. It also sort of "cheese-balls" the "heartbreak" that we've all gone through at one time or another - it really, really isn't the end of the world - like we'd all like to think at the time.
Amy Winehouse's story is tragic - but she is one powerful and amazing chick - I dig her!
So I kind of see this clip/song and a "spoof" on the theme of heartbreak. . . enjoy!

He left no time to regret
Kept his dick wet with his same old safe old bet
Mee-ee and my head high, and my tears dry, get on without my guy
You went back to what you knew
So far from removed from what we went through
And I tread a troubled track,
my odds are stacked
I go back to black
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go-o back to her and
I go back to . . .
I go back to . . .uusss
I love you mu-uch
It's not enough You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe and Im a tiny penny rollin' up the walls inside
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go-o back to her and
I go back to . . .
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go-o back to her and
I go back to . . .
I go back to . . .
Bla-aack, bla-aack, bla-aack, bla-aack,bla-aack, bla-aack,bla-aack
I go back to . . .
I go back to . . .
We only said goodbye with words

FEVER
By Peggy Lee
U Tube: com/watch?v=UNyoV23DYM8
Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear
You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night
Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
I light up when you call my name
'Cause I know you're gonna treat me right
Everybody's got the fever
That is something you should know
Fever isn't such a new scene
Fever started long ago
Romeo loved Juliet
Juliet, she felt the same
When he put his arms around her
He said, "Julie baby, you're my flame"
I will give you fever when we kiss it a fever with thy flaming youth
Fever! I'm a fire, fever yeah yeah, I burn forsooth"!!
Captain Smith and Pocahontas
Had a very mad affair
When her daddy tried to kill him
She said, daddy oh don't you dare
"He gives me fever
"With his kisses
"Fever when he holds me tight
"Fever, I'm his Missus
"So, Daddy, won't you treat him right"
Now you've listened to my story
Here's the point that I have made
Chicks were made to give you fever
Be it fahrenheit or centigrade
They give you fever when if you kiss them
Fever!! when you kiss them
Fever, if you live and learn
Fever, 'til you sizzle
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn

I think if you really want to see a place Gia sometimes it can be great to go on your own. You will find a whole load of other people who are on their own as well so friendships are extremely easy to make as you go along and likeminded people hook up very easily and quickly.
I like wandering and mixing with the locals and moving about and seeing as much as I can, tasting as much as I can and talking with everyone. The last time I was overseas I went with a person who said they liked doing all that stuff but in reality wanted to sit down every five minutes and really didn't want to move off the beaten track. It seemed just about everything that I took for granted when travelling became a chore after a while and became irritating.
My youngest daughter and I can wander any country anywhere as both of us adapt extremely quickly to the local scenery and are inquisitive enough and willing enough to join in, but not everyone is like that. So, sometimes travelling on your own is good and picking up another likeminded interesting person along the way is even better.

Who Wants To Live Forever - By Queen
~The Highlander~
There's no time for us,
There's no place for us,
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us.
Who wants to live forever,
Who wants to live forever.....?
There's no chance for us,
It's all decided for us,
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us.
Who wants to live forever,
Who wants to live forever.....?
Who dares to love forever,
When love must die.
But touch my tears with your lips,
Touch my world with your fingertips,
And we can have forever,
And we can love forever,
Forever is our today.
Who wants to live forever,
Who wants to live forever.....?
Forever is our today,
Who waits forever anyway?

Hey Bliss, Karen, Glitter n FG and all!
I am so going to Italy!... and on my own seems to be the only way to go I've decided. I've been an Italiophile for so long. (good food, wine, family...) Now I've read glitters mems but I'm waaay older...and I've dated an Italian who migrated (thanks Bliss for your insight) Still I think I am of the age to let it all in so... A good camera, a passport. I just wonder how important the language will be. I have tried learning Italian and thought I'd try Spanish because Portugal, Cuba, Argentina.....are on the list! You know guys, I have just got to go and 'experience' for myself as FG would say. I suppose a language class is a good way to meet people, hey!
cheers me dears! Here's a nice glass of red to your health (mental, emotional, physical and social.)

The route through Boondal Wetlands and down to Nundah etc is a good one (unless it's windy). I have a number of routes varying in distance from 50km to 150km from my place that I use depending on mood, weather, who's riding with me etc. Early morning riding along the foreshore at Manly with the sun rising over the bay is beautiful.
Nice looking Cervelo you have there too.
As for passing others...... I'm usually not too worried about it. Although on occasion it is good, very good to pass someone. I had a guy last night join the path I was on and before he pulled in front he sprinted to make sure he got in front of me and looked at me with a smile on his face.....the "I got you look". Making a long story short, I passed him shortly after (he wasn't going fast enough) and I looked at him as I went past and just shook my head.
I don't think their (the other bloggers) opinion of us being totally troppo has anything to do with us passing other riders. It's more to do with grown men wearing lycra, getting up at 5am when they could be sleeping, riding for anything up to 5 or 6 hours and coming home exhausted.....all stuff we troppo cyclists call 'fun'.

No totally competitive Mingle!! It's the testosterone in ya!!
Posted by: karen59 at September 3, 2009 10:04 AM
I hear ya icycle !
where i live we have some of the best bikeways in australia. On a good day i head down to scarborough over the dirty half dozen then hit the bikeways that follow the ocean up past redcliffe, margate, woody point, back over the bridge to brighton. Then along flinders parade into sandgate , a couple of k's on back steets then the path heads into the wetlands to the brissy entertainment center and on towards nudgee beach , across onto the jim sorly bikeway up onto shultzes canal and up to the bike racetrack near toombul shopping town then head for home , thats about 85k's with possibly only 12 of those on roads that then have a marked bike lane.
Usually start the ride about 5.30am in the warmer months and the peace is overwhelming.
Shall we tell them about the joys of catching and passing another rider? or maybe they will think we are totally troppo 8)

Maybeperfect & Glitter -
I can identify with the paddling thing, although that's where cycling fits with me.
On the road bike, it's the feeling of the wind on your face, knowing the only thing keeping you moving is you, concentrating on breathing, pushing yourself harder, the endorphins that are released through hard exercise. After a couple of hours on the bike all my troubles seem to have disappeared.
On the mountain bike, it's a different feeling. Being out in the forest with just a thin slither of winding dirt track before you and striving to find that magic moment when without thinking you and the bike are working as one and are in complete harmony and everything just flows. It's hard to describe but it's a truly magic feeling. Then at the end of the trail, breaking out in a smile and just thinking "how good was that?".
Cycling has been the thing that has helped me most with the self healing required after my marriage ended. It has been responsible for me not only getting physically fit (somewhere around 15Kg gone and still some more to go) but also mentally fit (relatively speaking).
I think the exercise thing is an amazing healer, physically as well as (and perhaps more importantly) for your state of mind. Eventually, this also drives up your perception of self worth. The endorphins released through exercise are a natural anti-depressant. Forgive me for rabbiting on here. I am just trying to pass on my enthusiasm to all who have actually read this far.

Maybeperfect ~ I am on the Sunny Coast.
I can totally relate to what you are saying. When I'm out alone on the water, in rhythm and in sync, I can only say that it's the closest thing to feeling perfectly in love than anything else I've ever known. I feel complete peace, bliss and joy and like all is right with the world in that moment. My heart swells with love and I know that life is good. It's where I let go of all the 'stuff' that I've allowed to come between me and me.
I only discovered it in my early 30s and it has completely transformed my life. For some people, it's religion, or whatever that takes them closer to "God" or whatever you conceive IT to be. All I know is that it is good and is right. Snow Skiing alone in powder snow is the closest thing that comes to this feeling for me.
Also, an icy cold beer never tastes as good as it does after a hard paddle in sun, nor a beautiful red wine after a day in the snow. . . . : )

I was going to say "Cellars" (as in wine making cellars) but it sounded a bit kinky...
Come to think of it, vineyards might be kinky too....
Though .... if anyone has ever worked at a winery during Vintage, lots of things happen that wouldn't happen if you weren't so sleep deprived, high on fumes, faced with brawny cellarhands in the middle of the night, covered in this year's chardonnay....
Not that it happened to me, of course, but Ive seen some things....

Nothing like paddling out on a calm day, watching the water flow past, wind in your face, faint splashes across hot (as in temperature not looks lol) legs and the peacefulness of silence and solititude....
ahhh on days like that and with fresh batteries, I really wonder why I think I need a man!

Don't know much about dancin'
That's why I got this song
One of my legs is shorter than the other
'N' both my feet's too long
'Course now right along with 'em
I got no natural rhythm
But I go dancin' every night
Hopin' one day I might get it right
I'm a dancin' fool, I'm a Dancin' fool
I hear that beat; I jump outa my seat,
But I can't compete, 'cause I'm a
Dancin' fool, I'm a Dancin' fool
The disco folks all dressed up
Like they's fit to kill
I walk on in 'n' see 'em there
Gonna give them all a thrill
When they see me comin'
They all steps aside
They has a fit while I commit
My social suicide, I'm a
Dancin' fool, I'm a Dancin' fool
The beat goes on 'n' I'm so wrong
The beat goes on 'n' I'm so wrong
The beat goes on 'n' I'm so wrong
I may be totally wrong, but I'm a
Dancin' fool, I'm a Dancin' fool
*Youwsa, youwsa, youwsa*
I got it all together now
With my very own disco clothes, hey!
My shirt's half open, t'show you my chains
'N' the spoon for up my nose
I am really somethin'
That's what you'd prob'ly say
So smoke your little smoke
Drink your little drink
While I dance the night away, I'm a
Dancin' fool, I'm a Dancin' fool
I may be totally wrong, but I'm a
FOOL-uh!
*Hey darlin'...can I buy ya a drink?*
*Lookin' for Mister Goodbar? Here he is...*
*Wait a minute...I've got it...You're an Italian!*

That's Amore
by Dean Martin
In Napoli where love is king
When boy meets girl here's what they say
When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella
When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore
When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine

You're in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore, (amore)
That's amore
Love Ewes All . . . off for a rollerbade . . on my NEW blades - whoo hoo (they are blue : )) Have a good day Everyone.

Okay I'm on a roll, come Monday - I have to join the work-world : )) Until then, I'll just enjoy the blogs. . .
So here's another random act of happiness. You know, you don't have to BE in love to FEEL in love . . .
Try A Little Tenderness
sung by Michael Buble
(youtube)
She may be weary
Women do get weary
Wearing the same shabby dress
And when she's weary
Try a little tenderness
She may be waiting
Just anticipating
Things she may never possess
And while she's without them
Try a little tenderness
For it's not just sentimental
She has her griefs and her cares
But a word soft and gentle
Makes it easier to bear
You won't regret it
'cause women don't forget it
Love is their whole happiness
And it's all so easy to try a little tenderness
But a word so soft and gentle
Makes it easier to bear
You won't regret it
'cause women don't forget it
And love is their whole happiness
And it's all so easy to try a little tenderness
You've gotta try
You gotta hold her
You gotta squeeze her
You gotta try
You've got to try and always please her
And now you won't regret it
You won't regret it . . .
Try a little tenderness.
Have a great day Everyone.

Booking confirmed. lol.
Old friends might have to bunk in together. Maybe? Who knows. It'll work out. Cheap up to 5 star is available in town for others.
I have visions of The Grand Hotel being overun by RSVPers. lol.
I'm thinking on the Saturday night we will all be in town for dinner - seeing Tassie performing of course! Yes Tassie? After all Healesville is the gateway to the world (hehe)
Re the food though.. don't worry about that. There will be many from down here and I have experienced much of their cooking before. Don't think we have much to worry about there. lol. My kitchen will be available for those super cooks. lol. Is enough you special interstaters can make it.
Ok - I'm off for the day. Can't wait to see what my "Tradie for a lady" gets done today while I am out.
Take care all.

JenniferHI,
Please book me into the stables - I am coming.
Also - I want to contribute to the catering fund - I will email you off blog - I think it would be nice if a few people put in for the kitty - if lots of people put in then we could buy nice food and some basic drinks and cups etc etc - it gets exy Jen.
Love candles and soft lighting - just make sure you get your best horsey to keep me warm that night - I might get lonely out there : ((
Your house sound marbelous!!

Evening guys.
Yes Glitter you can stay in my stables if you like. One bedroom is completed there in the old tack room. Hopefully more will be completed by November. Lighting by candlelight but that makes it all the more pretty and old worlde! You need to get used to that kind of thing around my home. (hehe)You just have to come down. We all wanna catch up.
So exicited - I am having a room made under my house and it's looking sooooo cute. It's like a little house within my house. I have antique doors going into it. And one went on today. Gives a great vision and feel now of how it will look. Luckily my tradesman is totally on the same page as me regarding old homes and antiques. Should have seen him when he saw the staircase that goes to no-where under the house. Now he has visions on what we will do there eventually. lol. Gotta love him!
There is no money pit so it will have to wait. lol.
How does this relate to the topic? - Well all these reno's are eating up my future trip to Europe. Ahh well - will be like a holiday when everyone catches up. Looking forward to that. Just remember I won't be cooking. We all know about Jens cooking. (Not good!)

Used to go something like this for me...
I see a red door .. na, na, na, na, na, na black,
No colours anymore... na, na, na painted black,
I see na, na, na, something, something, something.... clothes...
I shall be eternally grateful for your random acts of kindness!!!!

Okay Kazy, this is to balance the happy up:
You want random . . .
This is dedicated to our Oney: Spongebob Squarepants singing Paint It Black:
Paint It Black
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens ev'ry day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the settin' sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
Hmm, hmm, hmm,...
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!
I miss the old music blog where we used to be able to post lyrics and youtube links . . .
It was a lot of fun.
Night all.

Hey little froggy - how are you today?
I've got a song for you, and well everyone, esp our Virgo. It's my theme song at the moment, I play it on repeat in the car, v v loud!! It seems to be working a treat, because I'm feeling really good. . . Here's the words:
Feeling Good
By Michael Buble
Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom in the tree
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
It's a NEW life
For me
And I'm feeling good

It's stinkin' hot here today - spend another day at the beach with books and food. These are the times I dreamt about when I was freezing my tropical arse off in Tassie (I had knee-high uggs) - spending days like today in my bikini and staring into the crystal clear water as my feet get burnt poking out from the shade ; ))
Jewels, you will have to come stay with me when I get my house - not long to go now. Start full-time work on Monday : )) So it's all full-steam ahead!!
Summer will be there for you soon JJ and you will be complaining about how hot it is . . .

Karen, how can you be a big 'children' ? Grammar please, you know what thingo with his Resume said. Australian schools and Australian word processors don't process like that. What is a word processor, does that mean Microsoft Word? When I type on this thing, the letters don't show until I am on the second line and I just hope for the best and see if they appear like little stars in the night. And Glitter gets her knickers in a knot over paras, I'm lucky if it even appears. I have some beautiful Cranberry Plum & Cassis, creme de la creme by Sohum. Slathered it a little, or a lot after my shower and now steaming myself on an electric blanket turned to 3. Beautiful subtle smell, very nice and good feel too.

I suppose there would be quite a few older guys on here would would be genuinely seeking someone to start a family with. Maybe that is why they are looking for someone considerably younger than themselves. They may have come out of a marriage where their partner didn't want or couldn't have children. I don't think they all just want a woman who is a lot younger as a fashion accessory. Also it's very hard to find someone compatible as you get older if you have remained active and working etc., A lot of people seem to sort of give up after about 55 and all they do is sit around and moan about thei lot.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 20, 2009 7:56 PM
Hey Mingle, spot on... check my post "Someones interested" August 14 3.50 PM. Expresses similiar thoughts regarding the biology of our actions.
The age range (20-35 years) explains it all. Yes they are in the child bearing age range and were probably not consciously making the decision based on the guys financial status... would probably be horrified if you even suggested that to them. But it is all about 'natural Selection' and 'survival of the fitest' and both genders innately aim to improve their gene pool regarding their offspring. And now that we are a more 'civilized' species, capacity to provide finacially could form part of the selection process.
But what of older women, those who have already had their families etc.. etc. Very different perspective I suspect.
I do sometimes wonder about us as a species and if we are actually meant to be monogomous. Our culturally imposed social norms and moral codes of behaviour have lead the vast majority of us conform to this path.... but I wonder? Are affairs a part of the natural selection process? Dunno!
I am a monogomous kind of girl, not into affairs... but I know that is all about how I have been socially conditioned.
The Egyptian Pharoahs married their sisters and daughters to insure their genetic gene pool and that was socially acceptable in those times.
Cheers Guys!
Karen :)

Hi ladies :) , the show was a really interesting insight to the working of the dynamics between men and women.
The reasons for being able to provide are more based in our primitive selves rather than the modern woman and it reflects the large long term investment that as a species we put into our offspring. The needs of the woman is not a selfish one but rather to garantee the sucess of her children.
It is interesting that our biology places importance on different set of priorities than that of those available to us in our current society. This biology is nothing to be ashamed of , it has kept us surviving as a species :)
Most of the ladies in the show were between 20 and 35 and able to have children.
Wonder why we dont click with some folks? apparantly if our bodies immune systems are too similar we can smell that in each others pheromones too similar = less desireable. When we kiss we sample each others saliva, this is our ancient protection from mating with someone who is too similar to us genetically, and the ladies get a sample of the testosterone levels , the guy samples if the female is ovulating.
The show also looked at the motions and behaviour of ladies who are ovulating and how this affects males, and how the levels of testosterone sharply increases in the male within 20 minutes of being in thier company.
We think we make all the decisions rationally but this program shows just how much our bodies are still in controll and it goes a long way to explaining why we are hostage to our bodies needs and our actions can be so contrary to who we percieve ourselves to be.

Hey Guys,
You know what....I care less if the one I meet is a millionaire or has nothing. I actually had my very first RSVP date (and short lived relationship) with a woman who was literally rolling in it (7 bedroom house on Sydney Harbour etc). I still payed for every outing we went on...because it mattered to me as a principle.
I have lived for the day most of my life because a few of them, at certain points, have almost been my last. Any woman that is looking for a financial equal (asset wise) aint going to find it here...but I always pay my own way...and theirs too. My attitude is whats your is yours...I dont want it if I didn't earn it for myself.
I think judging people by their income and assets is crock...but I do understand why women will do that...and some guys too; especially if they have been burned in the past. Problem with that is that you are pretty much saying to the guy/girl you meet "I dont trust you" before you even get to know them.

Posted by: iaminperth at August 14, 2009 6:22 PM
Yes, I would like to meet someone who is on par financially with me. I don't intend supporting someone else for the rest of my life and I know that I couldn't as well as wouldn't. I don't really care what their reasons are as I lost very dearly financially in our settlement but with a lot of hard work I have built up a nice little nest egg for myself. As nice as some very laid back go with the flow people are, they';re not for me as when the bills starting coming in reality could bite pretty hard. I remember a couple of years ago I met a guy who ran his own business, lived in a pretty good part of town etc., etc. Ran his own business, a franchise he worked part time or not at all in, was housesitting for a friend who lived in a pretty good part of town and had no super, 'because you know, that's what happens when you run your own business'. He also seemed to have every ache and pain in the book, which he also said 'you know we have at our age', well, I don't know, because I don't. Anyway, he suggested a light lunch, not sure what that was but I did ask him what he was looking for: answer a long term relationship. So, here we have a guy with very little income, no assets, no super and lots of aches and pains, 60 years old wanting a relationship. That's fair enough but is that in my house, with me paying the bills and with me working full time to support him? Maybe I am missing something here, but needless to say I did not accept the offer of the light lunch. His vehicle was on its last legs also so I guess he figured my car...........No, I don;'t think so.

Unknown,
You don't ask for much do you....you want to be called Mr. President..!?!....and you want the white dress too....well, I don't think I will quite fill it the same way Ms. Monroe did...but I bet my singing will sure make up for that.....:))))))))))))))))))))))))

Mingle,
Thats horrible that women still look for that and embarassing frankly as a woman........hang my head in shame........any woman who assumes the man will provide for her and the family to me is as bad as a racist making assumptions on roles in life based on colour. Unfortuantely it doesnt suprise me, when I listen to many of my friends they still make comment about money when talking about the ideal guy.
I understand guys want women who earn equal to themselves, I know a lot of men are asking for that, I understand it as a requirement, women making assumptions its them who will be staying home, raising the kids, giving up work etc, or taking a part time job etc is days past and should have gone along with the race roles in life.
However, blah...I wont go on........you all know my stance on that one............Mingle, I think it may be time for a lychee martini :-)
Karen, this was the same guy who that same night, tried to actually find my bank statements whilst I was out of the room, I caught him going through the drawers in my dining room. Then .....oh god I cringe at this..........later..........I was downstairs and he went upstairs to use the bathroom and he came down, he had been into my bedroom and found a laundry basket, little did I know, he found this laundry basket a week before when he was there too (why you will get in a minute)....he had noticed that the clothes had not changed, so he came down and confronted me with the fact I must not be very organised when it comes to housework, washing, ironing etc.
I asked him how he reached that conclusion...he explained he had checked this laundry basket in my bedroom twice and the same clothes were in there. I looked at him and said 'thats the basket for clothes ready to go to the charity shop'.........however I asked him to leave at that point, after that and the bank statements, I kind of got that he was 'strange' snooping around like that, I must have spent two days giggling at his expense on the phone or over drinks with friends, so at least it was entertaining :-)

Hey Mingle,
I would be interested to know what age range was surveyed... it does not place women in a good light does it?
From my perspective, income is irrelevant. I have a desire to live comfortably... but certainly not aspirations of great wealth. Coz we ALL know that wealth does not bring happiness.
Having said that, I certainly would like my equal in the financial stakes. As I mentioned in a previous post... I would not want to be with someone who left everything to the ex and children and expected me to provide him with the lifestyle he left behind.
Kaz :)

Onemore, I would have told him to bend over while I shoved the bank statements where the sun don't shine!
Ooops... that's not very lady like is it! Sorry if I have offended anyone but sometimes I find the expectations of some people intolerable. What right does anyone have to request a look at your bank statements!
:) Smiling again now!

Have you guys seen the science of sexual attraction? not a bad show , very insightfull to the behaviour of both sexes.
At one part of the show the survey team were walking around london with a profile of a few guys asking many random girls to rate them from 1-10 on thier appeal. One of the guys profile consistantly rated a 4 , so they took the profile aside and changed one detail where upon his rating went from 4 to a 7 and above.
what did they change? they raised his income by 250k per year!. It seems that the ability to provide for offspring is still one of the considerations 8)
Posted by: mingle48 at August 14, 2009 7:13 AM
Hahaha Karen, you just made me flash back to a guy I dated about 4 years ago.
He asked to see bank statements. He said it is as he didnt want to be with another woman who was financially reliant on him, understandable, but to actually as to see bank statements, I nearly peed a little

Hey Karen,
I thought I was the only bloke that gave the lot to his wife....all my mates remind me of what an idiot I was; but I can at least still look at myself in the mirror (except when it breaks of course)!!!
Yeah, I'd say hes looking for a bit of a meal ticket...but not very good at disguising it. He was honest though; what you saw was what you were going to get....but only because he was too stupid to hide his intentions better!!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 13, 2009 11:03 PM
Bob, I actually had a date about a month ago with this guy from RSVP who described himself in his profile as an Honest, DTE, 'what you see is what you get type of guy'. During the course of the evening he related how he had walked out of the family home, leaving everything to his wife and children... his children being his major concern. Mmmm... admirable you might say. He then proceeded to question me about my home, how big it was, what sort of car I drove ...etc. He did stop short of asking me for bank account balance. I am guessing he was looking for a partner who was going to provide him with all that he had left behind. Really tacky! That was our first and last date! Would he fall into the gold digger category do you think?
Posted by: karen59 at August 13, 2009 10:07 PM
Hey Karen,
Some people will do anything for money. Me...I always wanted to be a toyboy....but at 54 its starting to lose its appeal a little!!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 13, 2009 9:23 PM
Hey Bob,
I don't get that whole sugar daddy thing. When you see young women (and I am sure it happens the other way) with a partner old enough to be her grandfather... just revolting. No amount of money could convince me to go that path!! Probably a good thing coz I would be hard pressed to find someone on the surface of the earth old enough to be my grandfather!! ... you know, now I'm nearly 50 and all!!
Posted by: karen59 at August 13, 2009 6:01 PM
Hey guys, you know what all these birthdays around August and September mean don't you?! It means our parents were having a very Merry Xmas or a Happy New Year... ewww, doesn't even bear thinking about does it!

Okay Unknown,
Which rendition...traditional or Stevie Wonders.....you can pick, it's your day Mister....!!!!
Virgo...:)
Posted by: virgowoman2 at August 13, 2009 1:40 PM
Hey Karen,
Yeah...dont need to be a genius to work those guys out...but amazing as it seems...plenty dont!!
I have actually received Kisses from younger women too (I know it comes as quite a shock)....now THAT I cant work out. OK, the overseas ones are pretty obvious, but whats a good looking young woman wanting with an old fart like me? I suspect that people know that Mosman is a very wealthy area of Sydney (sadly, I'm not one of those people), so see me as a sugar-daddy type...boy, if I wanted to use that...guess who would end up getting burned!!!:)))))))))

Oh Virgo, you sing so beautifully!
Boof, Boof, Boof, Boof, Boof.... Ha! Just teasing Bob!
And you are right Bob, I get kisses from guys in their 30's sometimes and my immediate response is, "What the...?" My reply is the one that says something like, "You need to read my profile because I think you are looking for someone I am not".
I think we have these guys worked out! I am certainly not foolish enough to be flatter by their attention!
Posted by: karen59 at August 12, 2009 6:05 PM
Hey Lizzie,
Maybe you should perfect Harpo Marx's version instead...have the neighbours been complaining about the cat being tortured!!))))
Boof...(but only to you)!!

Hey Lizzie,
Dont give up your day job...will you!!:))))))
Anyway, just another nail in the coffin for me!! As it is a work day, I think I can see one or two mates doing what they regularly do...taking me out with all intention to get me shit-faced...then spending the next day praying to the porcelain god!!

Hey Lizzie/Kaz,
Not suggesting women are gasping for anything...but its a perception of guys. Why do you think you get Kisses from 20 and 30 somethings...they're not in it for the long haul!!!?? The more hurt you are; the more vulnerable to these guys...wordsmiths with nothing but cheap words to offer you...sweet talk, sweet dreams (for them).
Lizzie,
I cant imagine any smooth talker putting anything past you...you may be blonde, but certainly not dumb, dim or naive!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 11, 2009 7:43 PM
Hey Kaz, no not lovely Virgo (bis sis), but my dear brother Bob, I was going to ask you to phone a friend, 50/50 et al but Virgo guessed - yay Boof (Bobbles to me)!
So happy birthday to Kaz 19th, Bob 21st and my darling sister 22nd! Twas a very good month, we were all blessed in that month - just different years.

It's not my birthday till next month...but I think it might be Boofs birthday...!!
Boof,
Have a great Tuesday....and us girls on here are definitely not gasping for anything...!!!
Ay General,
I will take your advise on-board, thank you...and I'm pleased you posted again...yayyy...!!!

"Better to turn 50 than not"... yep I'll go along with that! But 50 is the new 60.... hells bells Bob!!! Give me a break!!!
Is it Virgo's birthday on the 21st Nik? She looks like a fellow Leo... warm, passionate generous!!! Ha!
Have a great day all! :)
Posted by: karen59 at August 11, 2009 9:49 AM
Wow Bob... "mature women" are "gasping for it"... is that really the perception of some guys...?!! Gosh, I would say quite the opposite!!!! As a mature woman... I have been through the worst of things, come through, built a strong foundation for myself in life, am self reliant and have a good sense of self worth, know what I want from life, have clarity and clear goals... etc. I am not gasping for anything!! And I would say that would be the case for most of our mature blogger friends here. These guys are in for a rude awakening. But maybe if they have success with say 1 out of 10, that helps reinforce their misconception.
Thanks for the insight Bob. :)

Virgo, you are a charming/attractive woman, I looked at your pics. Just be-safe in meeting guys. they're sweet talkers in mental lapse.

Hey Karen,
Look on the bright side...better to turn 50 than not...and as all the women on RSVP say....its the new 40 (even though its really the new 60)!!!!!!
Hey Happyending,
That (your name) is a VERY leading innuendo to us guys...you must be getting drowned in Kisses!!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 10, 2009 11:21 PM
Glitter, have a read of the success stories on RSVP. I have a read every now and then just to remind myself that 'magic' does sometimes happen.
I to love the humour in the blogs... and the opportunity to converse with some lovely people... all genuine people who are on RSVP... that has to be encouraging!
Eewww yeah... 50 on the 19th... but who is counting! Virgo tells me it is all good!!!

I prefer to think of you as a significant passerby.....and please don't melt away to oblivion...come back and say hello again soon....!!
Later...Virgo...:)
Posted by: virgowoman2 at August 10, 2009 10:00 PM
Hey Glitter,
I have even only had one bad date through RSVP...and it wasn't the date; just the aftermath. Every woman with whom I have met has been really nice...I enjoyed their company (and hopefully they enjoyed mine); just not the right time or place.
I have had a couple of great dates (for me anyway); have made a few friends out there and met some really top women. I think the key is that I am honest from the outset, and open...I am quite prepared to answer any question that might be asked of me....and I always insist on paying....I think it makes a woman feel a bit special if she knows you are there to meet her and not trying to race her off.

Hey girls,
You have to be prepared for players here...its a smogasbord for them. Their perception is that (especially more mature women) who have come out of long term relationships are gasping for it...easy pickings, vulnerable and will do anything for some attention.
People that have only their looks or possessions to offer you have little else...what about themselves. These people have never had to make an effort; used to getting what they want because they are good-looking or wealthy (or both).

Enjoy your blogging. :0)
May talk to you all later.

Dear General,
I so wanted to understand your posts also, but unfortunately, I could not, for the most part.
I do understand that you feel emotional about "players and being cheated on", but there are amazing and wonderful, good, honest people out there and I would like to see people on the blogs give that some attention, rather that just being a place where people come to offload and perpetuate the horrible, sad and negative stories.
We all know the pitfalls of human relationships - I'd like to hear some positive love stories and successes . . . anyone, anyone . . .. .?
I do love the humour that comes across on the blogs - I often laugh out loud at people's personalities and hijinkx.
Glitter (wanting to focus on good and not bad - wherever your attention goes, energy flows : )).

Hey Kaz,
Spot on there. I love beer, but don't want to be one - I'm a little more lady like than that (well, I like to think so . . . )
What date is your birthday?
Glitter xo

Hey Nik, Qld whether is at its best in September I think... and you are almost there! We southerners have to soldier on with the cold for a while yet. But I did think, as I backed out of the garage this morning, at least I don't have to shovel snow out of my driveway... things could be worse!
Posted by: karen59 at August 10, 2009 5:41 PM
Ay General,
Yep, there are players on here, much the same as out in the real world I would think...hey, it's good you posted, and great that you want to share stories to help other people...that's caring...thank you.

Perth,
You made me laugh yesterday afternoon, 5 posts in a row...you definitely don't like Winter do you...I must admit it's very grey and sometimes sombre, no leaves on the trees, and no sun....but don't fret, the weather will start improving soon, and we'll be back to the warmth, and smiling again...!

Hey General and Happy,
Can I ask why you have hidden profiles...I read your posts, and then I want to look at your profile to find out a bit about who's writing, and you're hidden...how come...is it because you're just here to blog and not really date.....just wondering...!
Hope everyone has a nice Monday, and you're all happy and smiling....:)))))))

Dear Generalviewers, any chance of sharing your significant insights in easier read language, or they would be wasted.
Sincerity is more valuable.
To make true friends, sincerity and a warm heart have helped, not because that one is prosperous in material stuff. When I say material stuff I mean things like, eg owning a shop, or, have the power of offering a job to others.

Perth thank you. You got my point in the "Ring" I just made an excuses how things happened to our society. The Ring..is indirectly examples, a connection of two people in net contacts, followed by phone rings or text messages, that had been our instrumental in bringing it to the attention of the right person as we thought capturing our moods dreaming this is the one. After all those brilliant acts, hopefully would throw our hopes into turmoil and shattered in thousands of pieces, too many lies, too many deception and why they are so cold blooded heartless. why can't just be honest?.. when failed to delivered those promises, all you could hear is.." I am just confused" and I want something different, guessing exactly in fact they don't know what they want in life. ...we can't undo what is done, there's was nothing we could do to change what had happened or control impending events obviously beyond our control.
Posted by: generalviewers at August 9, 2009 8:36 PM
I'm actually trying not to have a glass of wine because then I will want another and another. I am one of those people who can go for about 2 weeks and not touch a drop and then want to drink a couple of bottles in one night. Think I may have an early night and stick to diet coke. I have to go to town tomorrow so that'll keep me on the straight and narrow.

Oh bloody buggery winter, it's too darned cold here!!!!!!!
Posted by: iaminperth at August 9, 2009 6:29 PM
Yes, I think it was 'the ring'. You can't answer the phone and her little boy does. We just stared at our phone as it rang on the wall as usually no one rings that late in the evening. It was so funny afterwards as we let it go thru to messagebank and then checked. It's a good film, dark and low key and gets you in.
I think people trade in perfectly good cars nowadays and they do the same to people. It's just a throwaway society at the moment and doesn't seem to have the deep connection and work ethic that our parents had. I was listening to some mid aged people talking at work the other day and how they were complaining about their partners and they spoke of them like a possession. I'll get rid of him if he annoys me much more, one of them said. Get rid of him, the man who fathered her children and worked his guts out to support them all. I am not saying that she is not a hard worker as well, but it sounded so cold and calculating. Whatever happened to maybe we can work it out, or more to the point, we should both work on it and then if the split does happen, do it amicably. Why is there always so much hate.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 9, 2009 6:27 PM
I agree Glitter a good glass of GB Lite when you go to the footie, lol !!! Although I think Karen is right it's VB. I have been told we are going to see a lot more 'beer' reach the market soon. It will be called beer but won't actually taste like beer as it is now. I'm not a beer drinker can't stand the smell. However, apparently if the product is called beer it will dodge the outrageous tax placed on the alcopop type things so a lot more people will be making beer so it seems. You never know they may make a Glitter beer with lots of sparkles.

We've set up a section also with large plasma and foxtel for people who need to bring in their kids whilst they work on Saturday. We have just purchased a Wii console also and a few games. Its all working quite well at the moment. Also have a couple of spare computers set up with internet access in case there are older ones who can do their homework. Trying to get it right for all the younger single or two parent working families to juggle their children and retain their sanity. Two bright red three seater couches from Ikea and a number of bean bags thrown around complete the picture.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 9, 2009 5:43 PM
I would love a top floor apartment near the ocean but they won't let you take your furry friends in the lifts. I take my puppy to work with me on Saturday sometimes and sneak her in and she sits happily under my desk. It's amazing how it lifts the morale of the people in the office who have been forced to work a Saturday and they take it in turns sneaking her out in their breaks. She loves it but I would be shot, hung, drawn and quartered if I was caught. Can only do it when I get to play Saturday boss and I can't really tell myself off. I think it's the whole cloak and dagger thing of sneaking around wakes people up to a bit of fun and they perform so much better in their work. Also I work for a large multi national so it's no mean feat to sneak her in.

Perth, the two couples that I'm talking about seemed to have got bored with their marriages, and have gone out looking for excitement, fun, partying and the single life...I have noticed that in both cases there is a 12 year age difference...perhaps they feel their partners are just too old for them...there was also no pressure money-wise on either of the couples..!!!

I'm really bored today, can't seem to get going. I have done two loads of washing, dreary stuff, cut back a heap of roses in the front garden and there's stuff everywhere now to get rid of and I'm sort of wandering around from room to room making a mess. I'm really fed up with winter and the cold and can't seem to get enthusiastic about anything. Had a hugely busy week as Co I work for has hired 20 more people, which is great really and heaps more work for me but that's okay and now can't think what to do. I'm so fed up cleaning my house, it's such a chore and need to think of new ways to brighten the two days off per week and break the monotonous routine. Can't really open a bottle of wine yet, it's only 3.30 here and can't go down to Freo and sit on the wharf as it's raining.....again. Yuk, hate winter, need sunshine.

Posted by: iaminperth at August 9, 2009 5:25 PM
I know the movie you watched with your girl, yes a scary stuff.
" The Ring "
Recognising the facts, Search is a consuming passion yet excited getting to know the person, emailing, ringing, texting, sweet lovely talks, floating up an ultimate joy taking you to the surface, aware that these charms has no effect in the long run. This was the secret of life so fleeting the final moment of truth overpowering for we heard, believed and desired. This people are outsmarted believing they got the best quality in them. They're biting off more than they can chew. all they want to take an active interest leave no other chance by getting yourselves to be involved out of necessary.
These people are scary like the "Ring", there's no stopping once's you hooked up to their overpowering charms even an intelligent person can be defeated.
Sometimes you need to be superstitious about celebrating with that person before the transaction is final.

Hey Willow, Yes, Coraline looks really interesting but I don't think Alice is a childrens one. Not sure, but I would like to see it out of curiosity. I like the movies, really enjoy them and my daughter picks some great ones at times. Her taste is a little dark and spooky at times but all the films she picks have some depth.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 9, 2009 3:45 PM
Do you think Virgo because they are finding it tough at the moment they sort of blame the other person for their own predicament. My daughter has a friend whose parents have just split and they are both out on the town partying and so on. Their finances are in total dissaray and they are up to their ears in debt but instead of working together to get themselves out of it they seemed to have decided to split. I think the old saying 'when the going gets tough'''' etc., is true at times.

Finding Amore? Or should I say a Heartbreak hotel site, everything looked unreal, fading, shock of weak and contemptible behaviour had stunned. There are so many ugly truth, pain bent against pain, twisting together to form an iron band so crushing hope almost unbearable. Disbelieving reading all this post, hurt, complains, angers, disappointment and sudden panic merged into one immense heartbreaking ache that suffused us all. We were like a dead weights, whom I wondered if we really expect they behave like we behaved, our mind swimming with confusion and felt something vital was draining out, a strange emptiness and sweeping away all other emotion.
Finding someone at your best is impossible to achieved a very rare to find, Eat my words my advices to young generation... be a single minded of purpose to the exclusion of all else. The purpose..Money..vast amount of it, for money is power, love, become rich, freedom would be invulnerable to the world. They will chased you for this glory and everything is under your control. It is the essence it became a motivating factor, inherent ambition, your drive, your energy, at the moment dream possible at all cost.

Okay Virgo, Snap, crackle and pop around the room, baby dancing, beautiful stuff. My youngest daughter babysits a 2 year old and 6 month old. The 2 year old is so happy to see her and they have to do a 'happy dance' at the front door and scream a lot then the two year old races inside and gets behind her mum pushing her 'go shopping mummy, go shopping ! Absolutely gorgeous little kids.

Unwanted hair, ummm hairdresser or salon on the way home from work. I work halfway between Perth and Subiaco and there are heaps of places there, also eldest daughter is beauty therapist at SJOG.

I want to see the new animated one Coralene, or whatever it is called. I love movies and want to see Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp when it's released. Dancing with the twins must be wonderful and how they would love it. Isn't it gorgeous the way little girls like to dance and glide around the floor so innocently and so beautiful.

Hey NIk, sorry to hear about the staff cuts at your work... that would be horrible to witness... I guess you would almost feel a bit guilty about still having your job (falsely of course!). I am not suprised you found it hard to sleep... thinking about their families, mortgages etc. no doubt.
Virgo, that was a lovely visual... you dancing around with your lovely grand-cherubs! My sister has a grandaughter who is also 2 years old. She is sooo cute... and they have a beautiful relationship. I can't wait to be a 'Nanna' but my daughter is only 17 so hopefully that won't happen to soon!
GB you are way to young to know Dean Martin!!!!
Hey Perthy, how do you get rid of unwanted hair!!! Ha!

What did you say Perth, women living approximately quite close-by in Vic. who are all in this site? I know the answers..Recession !..mindful men are about to tighten up their budgets.. nothing wrong with the H2O, ...men scared to be a bread winner. I supposed...

And the music from The Lion King is stunning. I really like this animated stuff at the moment and some of them have wonderful story lines. I have Cars on DVD, it's so good, the animation is fabulous.

Oh amazing Italy..would love to go back. Was there almost 20 years ago! Too long..It does have this amazing romantic feel about it, there's not doubt. The food, the stunning scenery and the men, well what can I say!! I was too young to truly appreciate such beauty :) Venice is particulary unique and with the goldolas, very romantic. I was with my sister and walking down the street in Florence when an Italian man looked at my sister and said 'oh beautiful flamingo'. (she is very tall with long legs!) See the Italian men are very smooth! Would love to go back and see it all again. But Asia is my next trip,

Hey Kaz, glad you're online lovely, I can't sleep, we had staff cuts today 17 gone, the rest of us have to have 2 unpaid days per mth and 2 annual days per month for the next 2 mths, ok with me as I can have a six day break in Sept/Oct/Nov but I'm a bit sad for the colleagues that I lost. I will get some decorating done for clients during this down time and not be so tired as my day job is full on.
Braun Silk Epil - as I said, let your legs go (its winter, they need the furry warmth - lol), go get them waxed as this softens the hair, I got them waxed 3 times then the Silk Epil does not hurt and the longer you use it the less hair you have full stop. Seriously, I'm addicted. Cheap and quick, mine only cost $60 but get the new one with the light, especially if you wear reading glasses like me!
On films, its interesting that Narnia 3 is being filmed on the Gold Coast and also in Brisbane about 5 minutes from where I live, the boat is taking shape and its fabulous to go down there on the weekend to see what is happening. They have closed off most of the point so you can't drive around and have the fabulous view over the islands (Straddie etc) however they will re-construct it to how it was after September when filming finishes.

Oh, hairy ankles, ripping hair out, sounds like fun, fun fun !!! Jump and scream if you see a mouse, just doesn't seem to match up somehow. The graphic description of mutton dressed as lamb and the open necked shirts and jewellery conjures up dreadful images. Something I have always been meaning to ask is how come there are so many women seemingly living in quite close proximity in Vic who are all on the site. Is there something in the water there, or is it a dump men movement or am I reading it wrong.

My daughter loves horror movies and she talked me into watching one with her one night. Can't remember the name of it but everytime the telephone rang, someone dies. Really scary, dark stuff with Naomi ? Anyway, I thought I would do some ironing whilst watching it and it was creepy, and you guessed it, about 9 at night our phone rang and the two of us nearly, well you know what. Never forget that film and they made a sequel which I didn't watch. I'm not a horror movie fan and I still remember when Cathy Bates broke that poor fellow ankles Saw that film about 100 years ago I think. I enjoy some of the new animated films, Nemo and Shrek and Cars, pretty clever stuff.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 7, 2009 10:54 PM
Silk Epil... I am on to it! Are they the ones with the coiled metal loopy things that grip and pull the hairs out?! Ouch! I have heard they hurt at first but you get used to it!!! the things we do to remain glamorous!!!
Posted by: karen59 at August 7, 2009 10:46 PM
Kaz get a Silk Epil, no more nicks, shaving rash or stubble, 10 minutes once a week is all it takes. Best to "let your legs go" whilst its still winter and you can wear trousers, get them waxed first time then use the Silk Epil. Sorry Bob, you can't use them on your face!! Ha!, Nik x
Posted by: aloveoflife at August 7, 2009 10:28 PM
Bob, stop being so hard on yourself! Do you have PMT? That's when I am the most critical of the mirror image? I have said it before, don't put yourself down... there are plenty of others out there that will do that for you. Be good to yourself!

Its not the razor blades that are scary; its the face looking back at me!!
Bob

Hey Nik...! You make me laugh... don't stop, red wine is good for you apparently! Noooo... missed the mag, but full of stuff I to could only ever drool over!
Yep, Robert Do Niro in Cape Fear '... edge of your seat' stuff. Another great actor. Have you seen 'Taken'... with hunky Liam Neeson?
Sweet dreams :) Karen x
Posted by: karen59 at August 5, 2009 11:59 PM
Hey Kaz!!! I just haven't been able to get to see it, I hide behind a mag when a scary movie is on (talking of mags - off blog here folks - talking to Kaz, did you get the Vogue 50th Australian Anniversary edition today, if not probably sold out by now, I have, reserved a copy and had it on my lap under my desk at work, drooling over Prada et al). Back on topic now folks, needed to talk to my gorgeous sista there..... I love a good thriller, but SOL freeks me out. Copycat with Sigourney Weaver and Harry Connick Jnr scared me witless but I've seen it on dvd about 3 times now. De Niro in Cape Fear, brrrrr.. Need a good man to hide behind..... Love Die Hard movies, there is just something about Bruce, "I've had a bad day, panadol someone", gotta love him....... choice between him and Ashton, Bruce anyday, a real man - suffer Demi, wrong move, HUGE!!! Oh and save the "gratuitus violence crap" moral bloggers, we like what we like - ok!! Nite all, Nik xx

Hey Bob,
I must admit that I doubt I would have the courage to attend an RSVP event... but you have, and survived it... good job! Now I am off to bed with visions of open neck shirts adorned with gold chains... ewww! Nightmare material!
Alove, I have a daughter who loves horror movies and I recently told her that she hadn't seen horror until she watched 'Silence of the Lambs'. I borrowed it and we watch it together. Neither of us found it at all scary. Just shows how desensitised I/we have become today! Seen more frightening stuff on the 6.30 news! But I agree, two of my favourite actors... Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster... and brilliant performances from both.
Sleep well folks... and enjoy your day tomorrow! :)
Posted by: karen59 at August 4, 2009 10:55 PM
Hey Karen,
I did go to another one....just a real train wreck...mutton dressed as lamb...guys with the open shirts and jewellery...real 70's retro stuff....very funny really...but still a train wreck...everyone so desparate to impress everyone else. I'm a people watcher....much more fun standing back...but you certainly need to have a skinfull to appreciate the atmosphere!!!
Party gets going around 10pm...then at midnight they think you turn into a pumpkin and close it off!!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 4, 2009 9:40 PM
I have seen Silence of the Lambs and read the book and also read the previous book Red something or other. I had no idea what you were talking about. What is SBD. I'm not a real pub goer so don't know the lingo!!!

Hey Amber, how are you?
SBD - 'Silent but Deadly'... the worst kind!

Never wanted to seee it; still don't!
Bob,
I understand sometimes I am a trifle backward, but the the heck is a SBD?

Nafj@7.21pm:

Posted by: kurli at August 4, 2009 8:23 PM
Hey Karen,
You just reminded me of my very first experience at an RSVP function. I was at a bucks day at Randwick races all day and went back to the Orient Hotel in the Rocks to kick on. To cut a long story short...the groom got waylaid by a few mates...including his father-in-law to a strip joint...now THATS a shock!!
Anyway, we weren't about to wait around, and I hate strip joints...seen one; seen them all...so we decided to call it a night. My other mate whom I was with was there on suffrence anyway...his wife was close to giving birth, so he wanted to leave. I was on my way out and remembered that there was an RSVP function on at one of the pubs in town. My curiosity had been killing me for months...so decided to go and see what sort of train wreck these things might be.
I get there and the place is virtually empty...9.30pm and only about 10 people hanging around. I was in no mood to go home soi decided to have a few rums and see if anything happened. Anyway, around 10pm the crowd coms rocking in...I'm bored so decide to just walk up to a guy standing by himself and share a beer. We got on and started chatting...all these women are rolling in etc etc.
Anyway, this woman walks up to me and asks me if I want to come and join her and her friends...dropping SBDs all of the time...now theres an invitation you could hardly refuse!!!
Bob

Posted by: karen59 at August 4, 2009 9:00 AM
Who was eating livers Bob?? You're getting very excited there, must be a bit of an erotic experience I think. I don't mind chicken livers now and then though, although the lambs fry bit I can leave. I tasted some kanga bangas the other day and they were horrible. Cooked up the whole packet and gave them to my dog. When I was growing in in England my mum used to cook tripe and onions. It fascinates me now if I ever see it as i can't imagine actually eating it, or why anyone would want to eat it. It just looks like a bit albino slug squirming in a heap and I keep imagining we used to eat it.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 3, 2009 11:41 PM
Yum, sounds delicious Glitter. I will try it, sounds like a lovely simmer in the pot thing. We have this magic bread shop opened quite nearby now also that sells this amazing crusty loaves. They are quite heavy with wonderful crunchy crusts, not terribly thick, but beautifully crunchy. Always have loads of wine, so sounds easy and delicious. Daughter is coming back from Bali shortly also and she is always looking for bacon and bread when she arrives. Not to mention numerous packets of potato chips and chocolate. Makes me sick, she weighs 50kgs and eats like a horse !
Posted by: iaminperth at August 3, 2009 11:37 PM
Perth ~ Fave are broadbeans in our country. Best (the only way really) is fresh, although you can use frozen. Fry up the onions, garlic and cut up bacon in extra virgin oil (of course) put in the broadbeans and some stock. Then let it (on low heat) simmer down and the juices thicken. Then, let it sit for a bit. After that, serve with hot crusty bread (good Italian bread - there's nothing like it) with a big glass of red. Dip the bread into the juices of the broadbean dish. Big sip of the good wine - you will know what heaven on earth is. Cheap, no emotional involvement and can be enjoyed alone.
Luv Glitter xo

Hey Girls,
Bombing the shit out of someone and eating their livers with some fava beans and a nice chianti....now THATS AMORE!!!!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 3, 2009 11:11 PM
Is that like a bean stew, sounds okay. So what are fave beans. Are they in tins, or dried and what do they look like? Sounds good though with bacon and stuff. I love bacon, could have it with anything. I do a lovely lamb shank recipe with italian sausage and beans, loads of garlic, tomatoes etc, and of course, the obligatory glugs of red wine and beautiful crusty bread.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 3, 2009 11:06 PM
It might be more a last involuntary last ditch at procreation, survival of the human race etc., brought about by nature. Perhaps that is why there is no control. Don't know about Saddam, apparently he was writing recipe books when they bombed the bejesus out of him. It seems so sad now and such a long time ago. Bagdad always sounded part of fairy tales and magic carpets and now, mostly a heap of dirty rubble smelling of death and destruction.
Posted by: iaminperth at August 3, 2009 11:00 PM
Did someone say "Fava beans and a nice Chianti"? They are my favourite beans, and that Italian guy, well you know the one - his little country house was in Chianti, where we drank some fine wine. . .
I do mean fave (as we call them) with onions, bacon, garlic and stock - served with great crusty bread and a stronger richer wine - say Shiraz. Mmmmm the weekend's coming . . . what r u cooking?
Gx o

Hey Perthy,
Somehow, I dont thing that Saddam Hussein was thinking about eating his enemies livers with some fava beans and a nice chianti

I don't understand any of it Bob and the hanging bit is apparently lack of oxygen. I can think of so many other nice things to do than flogging someone or getting choked. I think they should just get their minds off their willies for a moment and maybe have a nice meal and chat. Although, I don't think I would like to have a nice meal with someone who preferred to be flogged. Yuk, all a bit smelly for me. Can you imagine someone hanging up there trying to do the deed half choked with his tongue hanging out, not to mention other stuff. Grossooooo!!!!

There are other recreational uses for whips y'know - think Annie Get Yer Guns and you'd be closer to the mark.

Hey Perthy,
The dominatrix I understand...she is the one doing the flogging....the the guy getting flogged I dont understand.
I was watching a show one day and a female scientist said that it is a scientific fact that men get erections when they are being hanged.....but sex is the last thing on a womans mind at that time....on ours too apparently!!!!!
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at August 3, 2009 2:23 PM
i have never been able understand the dominatrix stuff. I just can't get my mind around why anyone would enjoy pain and enjoy someone standing over them like that. I'm very choosy who I ever let into my personal space, and can't understand what is enjoyable about someone belting you with a whip.
Sounds revolting and painful, not to mention with the bumps and welts afterwards very obvious what the person has been up to.

Good stuff Glitter, I was going to put the words on tonight for you!! I just love Bette in that role, I don't believe anyone could have made it their own as she did. Anyone out there hasn't seen it (who am I kidding) do yourself a favour and watch. You'll love her to bits. What about Love Me With a Feeling Glitter sis? That's a raunchy goodie as well.
Saw My Sisters Keeper this arvo, sniff, very good, I couldn't imagine Cameron Diaz in a role like that but she did it well. Very good movie. I took extra tissues, eyes only welled up, kept my mascara on, felt like handing out my tissues to all with me.

Dearest Nik, this is for you, just 'cause you can't get it outta your mind. A sad song Nikkita - don't cry.
Whoes Side Are You On?
by Bette Midler
Every time i touch you
My heart skips a beat.
Every time i kiss you
I feel love from my head to my feet.
Somethin' deep within me, baby,
Sayin' you should be mine.
Don't you know, baby, somewhere
I got to, i got to draw the line?
Tell me, baby, whose side are you on?
Are you wih me, or am i all alone?
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, baby,
Oh, where you been so long?
Since i need you,
Oh, won't you please come ho-ome?
And every mornin' i wake up,
Can't hide my tears.
After all the lovin', baby,
We've had through the years.
It's a lonely season, baby,
For you to leave, leave with no reason, babe.
I just can't help believin'
This time you're really, really, really leavin'.
Whoa, baby, whose side are you on?
Are you with me, or am i all alone?
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, baby,
Oh, where you been, where ya,
Where have you been so long?
Since i need you, woo, come on home!
Whoa, baby, whose side are you on?
Since i need you, oh-oo-oh-ho!
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, baby,
Where you been, where you been,
Where you been so g-ddamn long?
Since i need you,
Whoa, honey, honey, come home!
Owwwww!!!!

And, I'm still humming the words. Come on baby, well whose side are on you on. That is a great song as only Bette can do it.

Evenin' Alove ~ Bette rocks!
Still deciding what kayak - it's gonna be bright yellow all over though - with a black tag-line of my choosing, or a small icon picture - like those silhouettes of a woman on the big semi-trailer trucks. It's gotta come for QLD, so a few weeks off now. Usually go for the cool colours - but I'm in the mood for change . . .
Great movie on now - Sweet Home Alabama.
I hope you're having a fine nite.

Have to admit since I read your post to me I can't get a song out of my head Bette Midler from The Rose - oh oh Baby, whose side are you on. That was the best movie and soundtrack. Love that sassy Bette. Not going out tonight so I think I'll put that movie on.

I put a spell on you
'Cause you're mine
You better stop the things you do
I ain't lyin'
No I ain't lyin'
You know I can't stand it
You're runnin' around
You know better daddy
I can't stand it cause you put me down
I put a spell on you
Because you're mine
You're mine
I love ya
I love you
I love you
I love you anyhow
And I don't care
if you don't want me
I'm yours right now
You hear me

What's ratarsed!! ???? Is that rude or nice. Have to work out the emotions here you know. Virgo, Pinky fine so is the head, although the bourbon took a hit ! oh woops. I have to work today and just about to head out and wish I could stay in bed. It's cold here again today with a bit of ice on the windscreen I think. I am so looking forward to summer or at least some warmer weather. I have to fix my sliding door later also as my dog forgot to wait for me to open it and just walked straight into it. Oh the trials and tribs of being a working mum. Had two weeks nearly on my own with nobody in the house, they've all gone to Bali and then next week, four moving in for about a week, noise, mess, food and laughter will resonate again. I am looking forward to a bit of duty free as well, yay !!!!

Virgo ~ YES. I require high grade Italian pane di casa with fresh garlic and the best grade extra virgin olive oil, with a sprinkle of good salt. These are the key ingredients to ensure an excellent outcome re: spell casting.
Without these things, I'm afraid, I cannot do my Work.
I feel I can entrust you with these requirements.

Dunno, cos I'm getting drunk with Bob, better ask my baby boy, FG see what he thinks. I'm going to sulk, well that's if I don't have too much to drink first. Isn't it funny how the meanies and the control freaks always have hidden profiles. Why would you have to have more than one if you know you are a pretty good person. The second is to hide the fact that you are not. Carry on crawling Glitter, I quite enjoy it !!!!! FB you are a good boy and mummy in law loves you.

Oh FG, Glitter has hurt my pinkie, Bob is upset about an invisible blogger, a rude invisible blogger and Virgo is talking about stiff cheeder and then she said it is stuffed., I don't think I can cope with this, it's affecting my psyche. I mean, what have I done wrong. How can I be such as failure, my self esteem is out the window. Bob, the rejected and I, rejected also might just have to crawl away and get drunk, happily and slowly sitting on the front porch with the dog at my feet watching the sun go down. Oh, it's so funny how things work out isn't it.

Glitter, that's funny, poor Bob.
Bob, to get you thru this there are a couple of movies you need to watch, Witches of Eastwick (don't touch the cherries) and Practical Magic (you can be Jimmy), now you know what me and my sista's are capable of, be afraid, be very afraid......... gottaluvme!!
I love the scene in Practical Magic where they make the drinks in the middle of the night and dance around the table, that'll be us!

Bob wrote: "You lot getting together....I feel a very cold shiver running right down the middle of my spine"
It's okay Bob-bey, we will all get together, light a candle for you (white), hold hands and do a spell that ensures you have lots and lots of beer to drink, that is cold and that you won't have some inane woman bothering you for sex, to fix the taps in the bathroom, or go to her relatives house for lunch.
I'm afraid that'd probably be the best we could do after lots of wine.

Can I be the grumpy old 'spinster' Great-Aunt?
You know the one, all the nephews and nieces are a bit wary of?
She uses her age as an excuse to behave appallingly!
Just want to get in some practice!
Posted by: amberlight58 at July 28, 2009 6:42 PM
"I might add, how do seriously intelligent women who have been around a while not get that guys play with your maternal instincts (and sexual needs) to play on your emotions to get what they want. from you?"
I don't know Bob,
I think maybe it's because deep down most women WANT to believe what those blokes are saying to them.
And many of us older women were raised from a young age to believe that what we do for others, is more important than the person we really are.
A 'good' woman looked after her family and her husband, but not necessarily herself.
Lots of guys in our age group still believe that too, so a woman who couldn't 'do it all' was often written off (as I was), as being a failure as a wife or partner.
Maybe some women our age are still looking for that validation from a man, which is why they are so easily taken in by a man who "needs looking after".
I was only in my early 20s when I met my ex, I was the eldest child in a very dysfunctional family.
My role had always been to be the family mediator and "leaning post", I guess it was not surprising I was ALWAYS attracted to the boys who needed help with their lives!
Luckily, I think I have at last "grown out" of that phase of my life, my self-esteem is now greater than my need to be needed. Although I have to be vigilant, I know the potential to be attracted to a "renovator's delight" is still there, lurking just below the surface!
Some women maybe never give themselves a chance to stop for a while, reflect and learn, just jumping from one bad relationship to another.
The next guy who whispers sweet nothings in her ear, is the one who is going to be 'different' from all the others.
But he never is, because she is still attracted to the same type of guy who is looking for the same kind of woman.
One who will look after him, because he can't be bothered doing it for himself and he has probably never had to.
He has always managed to find a needy woman to do it for him!
That is why it is so important that we all stop and reflect on our lives, not just try to 'replace' the people we lose with someone else really quickly.
Like people are encouraged to review their investment portfolios and wills on a regular basis, so maybe we should also regularly review our lives.
Are we happy, if not what can WE do to change things?
Not be looking for someone else to magically motivate us or 'fix' our problems!
Posted by: amberlight58 at July 28, 2009 6:34 PM
Hey Alove,
Had some time to kill between commitments and ran with your mention of gilligan's island below....(you'll have to hum the tune in your own head)
Just sit right back and read our blogs
They're stories of our lives
We all support and give advice
And throw in the odd high five
There's Bob who's good just ask him
There's Jen who comes and goes
The rest of us are piping in
With tales of wins and woes
Glitter shines just like a star
With Onemore's guiding light
If not for the blogs of the fearless crew
We wouldn't laugh so much, We wouldn't laugh so much
The blogs they start with a question, an uncharted chat begins
With Karen
Aloveoflife
The FG man and his Perth
With Virgo here
And Maybe, Kurli, SWeety, Jewels
Here on Gilligan's Isle
So these are the tales of brilliant minds
Who chat and laugh all day
With cheeky innuendos added in
We're all here to play.
Needs an answer, or a cheer
This is the place to be
We're haunting blogs and writing notes
Somewhere on rsvp
To those who visit and read our blogs
Don't take it all to heart
We're close as family could ever be
Living six states apart
So join us here each night my friend
You're sure to get a smile
From funny, crazy family
Here's on Gilligan's Isle.
Ali
p.s. sorry if I missed anyone
:-)

Hi Amber,
Dont mistake getting things off your chest as a sob story (sob stories are for strangers); I have been guilty of getting things off my chest...but not for any other reason other than needing to say these things out loud so someone else can hear them.
I dont expect sympathy or understanding with my issues...I can deal with them all in my own way; as can lots of other guys, but a good pick-up line because women a generally roped in by emotional bullshit!!! I might add, how do seriously intelligent women who have been around a while not get that guys play with your maternal instincts (and sexual needs) to play on your emotions to get what they want. from you?
Bob
Posted by: notafigjam at July 28, 2009 3:25 PM
On re-reading my post I realise that you probably won't even get what I was saying, Bob.
What I meant to say more clearly was in response to your amazement that you are still getting requests for a photo.
I would suggest that you are either being seen as a 'poor, angry, hurt guy' who needs to be helped and nurtured, or your humour is actually hitting the mark and woman are thinking "he must be joking; no one could be serious with that profile!"
Hopefully it's the latter! Good Luck, even though you don't really want luck apparently!
Posted by: amberlight58 at July 28, 2009 2:53 PM
Told you Bob!
Some women just love men who appear to be angry and hurting. I KNOW, I used to be one of those Mother Me Theresas (Onemore's GREAT nick- name) you know, had this incredible need to care for and try to 'fix' the poor sad guy.
I can remember thinking about my ex in the early days, 'he is really a lovely guy he just needs some one to love and care for him'.
Of course, I learnt the hard way that you can't 'fix' anyone and guys like that really just use you and take you for granted, no matter how many years you end up being with them.
In the end they just see you as a nagging 'mother' or 'counsellor' figure, not terribly conducive to keeping romance and love alive!
So on thinking about it, I am so surprised that I didn't even recognise the 'sob story' as a successful and over-used pick-up technique.
It's just that I have moved on so far past that, I'd actually forgotten that it was hooked me into my ex in the first place!
Thanks for reminding me!
Posted by: amberlight58 at July 28, 2009 1:55 PM
Hey Perthy,
Apart from my hair, my ability to deal (eventually) with disasters in life is probably my best attribute...though I can come across at times as cold and unfeeling (I think we might be similar in this regard), though I am not that at all. Thats just me exerting my deternination; and once I decide on a course of action, god himself couldn't change my mind...its the only decent thing my father ever said about me...though I'm sure he didn't mean it as a compliment!!
Hey Karen,
The purpose of that was to have a bit of fun and stop people sending me kisses...I had on there "Not interested in contact, just here to chat to my friends"; but still getting requests for a photo???!!

I think Gene Simmonds is magic, even if he does bonk around a bit. He owns the most beautiful house I have ever seen and does a lot of work for disadvantaged and deprived youth. He also likes animals, so that's good enough for me.

Me, No Glitter, I just pud along, working and living being happy. I don't like hassles, can't understand people doing things to damage themselves, a bit of a doer rather than a sympathy giver and have a heap of fun in my life. I have a teenager at home and all the friends and a few extras as well at times so I suppose life is busy as I work full time. I see quite a few very sad disasters in my job and I have to make sense out of them and get above the emotional part and put processes in place to enhance recovery. I guess that's how my mind works. I am not a particularly emotional person but love my family and friends deeply. I suppose I am the person who can stand in the middle of a tragedy and think clearly to attain the best result. I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, it's just me. I find it hard to understand how people can hurt themselves when there are far more important and worthwhile things in life. I am not judgemental, simply don't understand. And I have forgotten about the paragraphs again, for which I apologise.

Cheeky FG - air kiss brother, nephew - who are you again????
Posted by: aloveoflife at July 27, 2009 10:59 PM
Oh tonight has been so entertaining. FG you have missed your calling, nothing wrong with being a tradie but you would have made a great comedian or a writer!! But not only did you miss Sweety but also Karen, Jewels, Ali, I know - they can be Jen, Virgo and my wicked stepsisters. Sistas' yeah!!
Kurli, please keep us under control, this has gotten totally out of whack!! As the matriarch of the family.......
I think Gilligans Island is more apt than Beverly Hillbillies or the Brady Bunch let alone the Partridge Family or Eight is Enough. Gee I watched a lot of telly when I was a kid!! Guess they didn't have blogs to read back then.....
Bob, cheeky new profile, should change your name to Gene Simmonds......you'll be hitched soon, I just know it and I'm going to be your bridesmaid, Nik x

Hey Virgo have you been watching bold and the beautiful again..??
I was more thinking of inventing a gravity propelled car. No greenhouse emissions and get this... A smooth ride...!!
But hey got to start somewhere..

I believe you don't need to go to Italy to find romance. Being Italian myself and romantic too, I can assure you that Melbourne has so much to offer for those souls.

Perth...don't you think that may be a bit incestuous......!!!!
FG...you should think about writing scripts for soapie shows....you've definitely got talent...!!!
Kurli...perhaps our family reunion could be along the lines of Gilligans Island....!!

Perth, I don't think I have every seen you so excited??? You have been hiding this side of you . . . : ))
Somehow, I feel behind the 8 ball. Have I missed something here? Is there a romance happening that I don't know about? And if so - Shit!

that's for calling me a mother in law. I only just realised that I am, isn't that terrible. I hadn't thought of myself previously as a mother in law but my eldest daughter has now married and that is the tag I suppose. What a laugh, he's just a nice guy with simple tastes but he's being tied in knots with my demanding daughter. Oh well, they will work it out. I do not interfere, too scared too and don't want to but they are welcome any time. They don't like the way we have teens come over but I am not about to change that as my youngest and I enjoy that and we have lived together alone for ages. Families can be difficult at times but again, I think you just have to be who you are.

The post seems rather personal to me, almost like it's directed at a particular person who may read or contribute to the blogs. I can't understand the reference to how many children a woman has, that seems a little strange to me.
Posted by: iaminperth at July 26, 2009 4:37 PM
I agree wholeheartedly Bob, just one big personal fight between a small group in one state who bickered behind the scenes and then posted answers on blog. Rather like whispering to another when in company, all very childish. I think one of the best things about travelling is seeing how people behave in their own countries and their own cultures. Doesn't mean we have to agree with it, but it's a lovely way of getting a good education. Went to a beautiful little town in Peru and around lunchtime the guys go to the town centre when they know the women will be doing their shopping etc. As the women walk across the centre they whistle and rate them. I was asking what it is and it's a game they have played for years. The women when they go shopping pretend to be cross with them and tell them off sometimes but not one of them was out in their trakky daks, every one of them looked beautiful and they agreed afterwards it was all good fun and were giggling and laughing about who had got which score and when. If that were to happen in Australia it would be illegal today but it's fun for them, married and single, old and young.

True Perth, that's how I can afford my xmas holiday, work. We all do it and no doubt all earn our living well. How many days now Virgo?? Just started planning the one after that to the US late 2010 - OMG how am I going to afford it - oh that's right, I have a job - work!!
Posted by: aloveoflife at July 26, 2009 3:53 PM
Read - "someone's interested, help how do I write my first email" - a long and drawn out blog, once again telling us how to live our lives. Truly if this person knows it all why are they here, to give advice, to tuck us in at night like good little kiddies - wake up sunshine - we've all grown up.
Posted by: aloveoflife at July 26, 2009 3:50 PM
Kaz! You don't need to cleanse your infrastructure, someone else however does need a check up from the neck up!! Reading from the "He's Back" and "a name change - std's, financial etc" I'd say a negativity pill has joined once again. All the regulars will keep us newbies informed - read back a bit and you'll come across the std one - omg - couldn't believe it. Had forgotten about it until Perth just reminded me. Wow, same person different name. Blah!! Now where's my white fluffy pillow, I need to join my middle finger to my thumb, sit on my pillow and join Kaz, Ommmmmm, ah, better, my soul is cleansed. Better just do a quick defrag with some cheeky red! Welcome back Bob, hope you had a good holiday, sorry but I missed the plane, sounds like FG is sending you off the bridge on your lonesome. ;-) Now if you were to take a leap off the Story Bridge in Brissie there is the infamous Story Bridge Hotel underneath.....

Posted by: jewelsxr6 at July 26, 2009 3:32 PM
No, not new, he's been here for ages and ages sending out kisses to every woman in the state just a name change that's all. Firstly it was a long rave about STD's and now it's financial. I laughed at the other comment re dining out and travelling and how we expect to do that. Simple answer I would think, not too hard but it is a four letter word..........Work !!!

Hi yeahitsme,
Nothing in it. It was more of a PM to a friend that comes from the northern part of Italy who read the blog.
Bob
We all wondered where you went? I was watching the news with interest..., I had visions of the pub going dry and you heading straight for the Bridge...! Weeeeeeee ...... splash...!
Nothin wrong with Aussie fore play.... You ask any Aussie..., Mrs Palmer and her five daughters are always on hand...!!!

Welcome back Bob... we all missed you! 15 secs Bob... Ha! Might leave your partner questioning "Are we there yet?!"

Hey Nik,
Bridge....4pm today...be there!!! As for looks...sorry, you have been seriously misinformed....though; after a few (dozen) drinks...!!!
I dont know what all the oohhing and ahhing over Italian men is all about...they beat about the bush (no pun intended girls) too much. Good old Aussie foreplay....you awake!!!...short, and to the point. Besides; why do something for 4 hours when you can do it in 15 seconds!!!
Diditforlove,
Oh for the good olds days eh?? I was around in those days too....not always intelligent conversation; plenty of bitching and whining, and hot air blown by some of the pseudo-intellectuals that think they are smarter than most of the punters...but they only think that...not necessarily true People here at present are smart, amusing, decent...even human...something I wouldn't necessarily say about a few in"the good old days" of blogging....!!!

Welcome Mitzie, we're a crazy bunch but I have met some wonderful people on here, they make me laugh out loud, they also make me be cheeky cos I'm not usually like that at all. True!!
Bob, where are you, if you come back I'll let you chuck me off the bridge, rumour also has it you're a looker, lookout Feelgood, you've got competition - he's got brains, wit.. we are blessed. Nik

Everyone behaving and having fun so far this weekend? Hmm? Just been to see The Hangover, friends recommended it. Not my cup of tea, should have trusted my better judgement and gone for Coco Avant Chanel - anyone seen it yet? I believe the directors' self empowerment, belief in systematic processes and the basic infrastructure are what make it great Kaz!! Just opened a lovely bottle of red, perfect on the palate, nicely layered, some blackcurrant in there I think, very nice infrastructure. Oh saw, My Life In Ruins last weekend, loved it, a real laugh out loud movie, it'll make you want to go to Greece, if you loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding you'll love this one even more. Nik x

A definition of 'racism' ... "a belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others".....does the shoe fit?
Personally, I get a very uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach when ever I hear someone suggest that a trait is common to a race... even if the intention is harmless at the outset, when the myth is perpetuated that is a concern.
Posted by: karen59 at July 25, 2009 9:34 AM
Hmmmm...... something tells me Simple Simon is haunting these blogs........think he's back just like Freddie
Posted by: yeahitsme2 at July 25, 2009 12:17 AM
When I proffered my opinions on Italian men's wooing habits, I at no time mentioned that I thought that to be a bad thing. But some ppl ,whom I thought would have known better, have jumped on the bandwagon of assuming that I was comparing good and bad racial traits. Oh for the days of blog comments when Marcus and Co. were around, and a little grey matter was apparent in the blog postings.

Very true Virgo, doesn't matter what nationality, there is good and bad, male or female so no-one is pointing the stick at anyone here.
Blissmaster, interesting words but I think you may have just burst a few balloons with the idealists view of Italy. There is same in most countries. Good and bad, rich and poor. Um, interesting profile.....
Posted by: aloveoflife at July 24, 2009 9:52 PM
OMG! I always knew that the most interesting section of RSVP are the Blogs - have never commented before - "blissmaster" as an Italian I'm sure you know what you are talking about, as a touristI I loved Italy last year as the culture and history fascinate me. As a person of European heritage I have always appreciated the lifestyle Australia offers.
Read your profile and it's very interesting. Cheers

Yes Blissmaster, have to concur with your opinions re Italian men. If they want /like a woman, they seem to instinctively know how to woo them. They are really expert at it.
Ladies if an Italian man is after you, then there is never any doubt or questions marks as to this intentions.

No matter where a person lives on this planet, people aspire to improve themselves and their living conditions.
My parents emigrated from Italy to Australia to escape poverty.
The trouble with tourists is that they observe life through the eyes of a tourist and see only what they want to see. Strip away the romance of Italy and you will see an infrastructure under collapse.
I think that all Australians should make a pilgrimage to Italy purely to learn culture. Enjoy the historical and cultural heritage and the lifestyle.
It is very easy to get seduced by the Italian lifestyle. Live there for a while and you will find that your average Australian has a standard of living which is the envy of the Italian working class.
Let me tell you about the real Italy.
Italy possesses over 2000 years of culture.
Italians are family orientated.
Italians are hospitable people their economy depends on it and they are not going to kill the goose who lays the golden eggs.
The cost of living is high.
Housing is unaffordable.
Unemployment is high.
Tourists get ripped off.
There is a dual pricing structure one for the local; one for the tourists.
There is no health care as Australians know it if you cannot pay you die.
There are no unemployment benefits if you become unemployed your family looks after you otherwise you starve to death.
While you are enjoying your vacation get to know the locals. Live with them and appreciate their position in life. Take plenty of happy snaps.
When you return to Australia appreciate that if you fall on hard times there is a Government infrastructure that will assist you.
Ladies some advice from an Italian the Italian stud muffins will charm you out of your knickers before you say yes. A trouser snake has no conscience; once limp the true nature of beast is revealed. Once the deed is done you will find that they are no different to Australian men.

I returned from a holiday to Italy a couple of weeks ago, and my advice if you are considering a trip to Italy is definitely just go!! It was wonderful. For me, Rome was more romantic than Venice, and the smaller, less touristy places like Spello and Modena were my favourite places to visit by far.
Before I left I received lots of advice from well-meaning friends, from watching out for sleazy European men generally to being prepared for the extremely flirtatious Italian men specifically, and I have to say that these warnings were way off the mark for me! The Italian men I met were respectful and friendly, in some cases very charming, but I didn't feel harrassed ever. In fact, I'll quietly admit to being a little disappointed that there wasn't more flirting. Mind you, I was racing around Italy greedy to see and taste as much as possible, so any Italian male interested would have had to be pretty fast on his feet! I think I might have to learn some more Italian (I can order my espresso macchiato and gelato but that's about it) and return for a second visit at a slower pace :)

Glitter.. omg .... I'm going to live vicariously through your Italian fling.... I was getting goosebumps... what an amazing memory to have... food and sex.. my two favourite topics... perhaps I should be seeking an Italian Stallion... hmmm rethinking profile now hehe

No Nik, you go to Paris and show 'em how it's done. Then when you are bored with the Parisians, you can just pop over to Itally (and they can show you how it's done) : )))))
You're gonna have a good time. Just don't forget "if it's not on, it's not on" : )))
Luv Glitter xo

Hey Feelgood, I am a "northerner" : )) family is from outside of Florence (still have a castle there in the hills of Sambucca - true), but I am Ozzie born. Sister born in Rome, and other part of the family comes from Sardinia (still have a farm there). But you know how everyone goes on about Italy, well it is nice, but I love love love Australia and for me it provides the space and freedom to be an individual. People don't realise how structured and fixed the Italians actually are. But you are right FG, what you hear about Italians IS all true (the good, the bad and the ugly). They love strong, they hate strong and they forgive . . . most of the time, and for the other times . . . revenge works well : ))
Aaannyway, back to the romance of Italy. In 1998 I lived there, mainly in Sienna and Buonconvento (just outside Sienna) in Tuscany. I was studying language at the University there. Talk about party. It was around the time of the annual Festa (party time). Music and events in the streets, dance parties in old building courtyards with no roof and the snow falling on the dance floor . . . surreal.
Well, I was with a girlfriend and we were at a street party. I looked up to one of the old balconies and my heart stopped! Then started again real fast. There was this gorgeous, dark, handsome Italian man DJ-ing - now I'm not usually attracted to Italian men (my father is one), buuut this guy had "something". Anyway as it turned out, later in the night we bumped into each other, and so began the hottest affair. I ended up socialising for weeks with his Italian friends: dinner parties in remote castles, raves at out of the way nightclubs in the country, private dinners at amazing restaurants and rendezvous in the snowy restaurant car park etc etc.
This guy was just so incredibly sexy that I found I could hardly sit in a car with him - I couldn't breath and I most certainly couldn't sleep much during that period!!
It was destined to be hot and short. But I still remember those cold, romantic nights walking the cobbled streets of Sienna hand in hand with a sexy Italian stranger. I have never ever again met a man that was that sexy or could do that to me (affect me in the same way).
What was even better was, he could speak not a word of English, but my Italian was ok, enough, anyway : ))))

ps, oh and when we're not thinking about sex, we are most definitely thinking about food (shallow isn't it?)

Well what can i say Italy is all about experiences, the food the wine, coffee and don't for get the hot blooded Italians...!!
Some of my family are from Sicily ( i know southerners) and all thoses things you hear about Italians are true. YES all, good and bad. But hey, that's just how they are. Food is big on their list and if you are considering a diet best not to travel to Italy...!

It was the" first time " for me.....every teenagers dream come true and it was happening to me . I was a teen at the time with hormones running amuck. We became pen pals and kept in contact for many years
