Sports or Sun?

Many people love the great outdoors, but this doesn't necessarily mean that they are particularly 'sporty' by any means. Are you an outdoor lover for the sheer pleasure of feeling the warmth of the sun? Or do you love to get out there and get competitive in a grueling game of footy?
Do you enjoy the simple pleasure of walking through a picturesque park and having a picnic under the stars, or is your idea of outdoor fun getting your feet wet or your face dirty? Tell us about your ideal outdoor adventures and what the perfect outdoor date really looks like (as opposed to the old walk-along-the-beach scenario).

I personally enjoy the simple pleasures of walking in the park, or picnic somewhere quiet. A perfect outdoorsy date would be a coffee first, then lunch at headlands pub or if he has a motorbike, a long leisurely ride down the coast ( weather permitting of course) just soaking in the scenery and talking....you know...conversation

Women and both have the same hormones???
Some men have more female hormones and some women have more male hormones....
Now some in the world of mental torture world would say.....personality boderline bi polar...
Others would say pillow bitter, lemon crunchers and the like.
I like to say we are all different and enjoy our indifferences as it makes us all unique..
You gotta thank the hormone gods for that don't ya think???
Peace out and morning all you wicked sand pit dwellers xxxx

glitteringblue at September 8, 2008 11:04 PM: Lady hyaenas have much higher testosterone levels than the males, I once read, and that and their larger size makes them the pack's storm-troopers if they go for live game, instead of the usual carrion.
I assume they must have enough of the "female" hormones as well, to be able to ovulate and menstruate, so if they had a bad hair day, you better watch out ....

A little Alpha Info for you :
"In human societies alpha male can mean very different things. Some use the term to mean the guy who seems most at ease with women and can essentially marry or date any woman of his choice. In this sense the alpha male is often good-looking, has a great build, and may have a relatively high socioeconomic status. These distinctions may be less noticed in human groups like high school settings. Generally the alpha male (or a group of alpha males) are the cutest guys, usually muscle-bound, sometimes the “jocks,” while beta males may be less assured around females and may participate in less “male” activities.
The guys who join math teams or play chess at lunch are usually the beta males and may be thought less attractive by girls. It should be noted that “nerds” (and here we use the term fondly and affectionately), are becoming increasingly popular. As long-term mates or “boyfriends,” they stereotypically on average tend to be nicer and more respectful toward girls. This article also does not imply that all attractive males are necessarily alpha. Alpha males are more about exhibiting traits that are essentially masculine or “macho.” Many attractive males are beta to the core when it comes to relating with people.
In work settings, the alpha male may be a natural leader, exuding confidence. But he also may be contentious, demanding and difficult to work with. This is thought to be in part due to the alpha male attempting to retain his stature, however unconsciously, as alpha. Being the top salesperson, the quickest worker, the most aggressive boss may contribute to remaining at the top, and the alpha male has a tendency to respond aggressively to any attempts by others to outshine him.
This is true in non-human settings too. The alpha male is continually being tested to see if he remains dominant and may need to stage pitched fights with upcoming males in a group to remain “top dog.” In the human setting, the alpha male usually doesn’t fight physically, but instead acts with language, brusque or dismissive behavior, or with other tactics to remain at the top.
Though leaders in a company are excellent to have, alpha male characteristics in the workplace may not always be seen as positive. Aggression and disregard for others are not necessarily inspiring. Some people better lead by being “beta” and having good communication skills, sensitivity toward others, and downplaying their strengths so they can showcase the strengths of others.
In adult social settings, alpha males again may be judged not so much by aggression, but by their ability to get the most attractive women as mates. This is the primary reason for alpha behavior in other animals. "
Does that cover the Alpha subject guys ??
:-)

outbackdrifter, I laughed out loud when I read your post! Your observations are hysterical (and expressed very diplomatically I thought) and I suspect oh-so-true! I have an Alpha female cattle dog x who has her flirting technique down to a fine art .... I could probably take some tips from her!

in my experience, most "alpha males" are really wanna-be alphas....the true test is whether he is an alpha WITHOUT trying!
warning: alpha males are usually users & takers, definately not givers!
ps: i find Spring really sexy too, hehehe ;D

WN, the Alpha male is not leader of the pack, take my word for it I spend alot of time watching canine behaviour.................. its the Alpha female who really runs the show .
A male dog will alway back down from a female :)))))

An Alpha male is ususally a leader of the pack .. Mr Macho ??
You know the old Cliche .. about the time when you feel like you dont mind solitude you will suddenly become flavour of the month.
Maybe it's old age and menopause that makes me a lot less eager to share my space again. I'm still puting myself out there .. not pulling in my profile after all ... despite a brief time when I thought about it.
Now Ive come to the point in life where I realise solitude is far more appealing than getting my heart trampled on again and being determined that any man who I meet will need to respect my need to take it slow, be friends first .. Ive actualy had enough virtual kisses lately to turn a few down ;-)
Perhaps you need to work out less and take some lon slow relaxing strolls instead LOL

waternymph I am sooooo jealous....my calve muscles aren't acheing for those reasons....wish they were....
Such a glorious day and I would dearly love to be somewhere out of the bustling crowds, enjoying the sun....and the touches....and the....
Listening to Robbie Williams and dreaming...had my couple of hours at the gym perving (and caught a guy perving at me - awesome!).....TW calls me an alpha female, not sure what he means but if I was maybe I would be better at going out and successfully hunting!
Spring makes me feel about as erotic as it is possible to feel being solo....the sun calls for, well, you all know what.....
Buggar being bloody single/solo/alone!!!!

Thanks glitteringblue. What wonderful local scenery you have, lucky girl!
Posted by: espritlibrefemme at September 6, 2008 8:31 AM
ELF, I love that feeling of which you speak so eloquently - very exhilarating indeed. All that exercise should take the edge off it though.
Personally I don't like the gym. I live across the road from the beach, so my morning medicine is watching the surfers as they come out of the water dripping, fresh, clean, vital and alive - and most importantly happy mmmmm happy days : )
BTW I read your updated profile - I really liked that paragraph you added - loving, soft, feminine, spiritual - so much more alluring and a more rounded picture of you.
Posted by: glitteringblue at September 5, 2008 7:45 PM
Another two hours in the gym today....that scenery!!!
It is rainy and cold and not a very pleasant Brisbane time at the moment....so sweating it out, smelling the sweat from the gorgeous guy on the treadmill next to me, is kind of therapeutic....and the weights area..sigh....
It isn't outdoors, it is kind of sports, it is totally non-touch but, oh boy, how erotic is getting fit for summer in the sun! Phew....ladies I heartily recommend a trip to fantasy land/the gym....
Can you tell I am not datng and got no man around at the moment....???

LOL Waternymph, you spoilsport! Just bring a picnic blanket to the meadow and beach and make love in the shallow end of the waterfall - although the deep end has a lot of merit....
Personally a bed of pine needles in a sundappled glade in the middle of a forest suits me.
Posted by: willow29 at September 5, 2008 2:20 PM
espritlibrefemme at September 4, 2008 1:28 PM .. Now ELF just a few relaxing breaths of fresh air .. cleanse out all the pheromones and testosterone you inhaled at the gym and a tepid ..not hot, not cold) shower LOL!
Don't we all just drive ourselves balmy with visions of making love in a water fall(help I'm drowning and it's slippery) on the beach(ouch got grit in my tender bits and sand in my ear) in a meadow(sweet scent of grass and wildflowers ..eeeek something crawling up my leg OMG I'm getting a rash from something... Aahchoo!! Help there is a herd of cows heading this way and the leader looks mean)
Personally as much as I love the sun on my face(thru sunscreen of course) the sea breeze, "The free fresh wind in my hair, life without care ..." even walking with my lover in the rain.. I want to go home and get warm and comfortable in the privacy of my boudoir for the fun(indoor sport) to begin!!

yep egernia, you are right! we never get past loving the romping in the waterfall, ecstacy under the stars, rustling in the long grass, do we?
I am beginning to think that I only want a man for sex, though. Imagine if I put that on my rsvp profile????
Being seduced....slowly and very skilfully....indoors or outdoors....lasting, repeating, continuing....sigh.......
Ok my excuse is that I have just spent two hours at the gym and the scenery was glorious, muscle heaven...and it's cold and wet, and the bed is looking really soft and comfy, and libido...well....you know....
Now what was that about outdoors and sports again???
Posted by: espritlibrefemme at September 4, 2008 1:28 PM
phew, thoughts racing here.....
waternymph, yes, yes, yes and it is fun, and makes you feel like you are in heaven, and NOTHING compares to it - not chocolate, ice cream, fine cognac.....but adding these ingredients to sex makes burning the calories whilst putting them on absolutely delightful!
Sigh, now I remember what I was looking for a permanent partner for.....sooooo much better when you have taken the time out to really discover each other sexually....then push the boundaries....then go further...
Buggar, I thought I was over all that!

{What constitutes sports with these kind of activities???? It certainly was never competitive, that is for sure, but outdoor activities that made the heart pace, broke out the sweat, and left me wonderfully exhausted...it beats competitive sport for me anyday! Posted by: espritlibrefemme at September 4, 2008 9:23 AM }
esprit .. it is the elevation of the heart beat , the heavy breathing and raising a sweat, not to mention the raised level of endorphins .. that makes lovemaking that the best body sport /treatment there is!
Posted by: waternymph47 at September 4, 2008 10:58 AM
I grew up in close range of the ocean, Dad took me deep sea fishing with his mates when I was 5.They tied a rope around my waist and attached the other end to the cabin door .. sadly the bucket toilet also was attached to a rope and they used to make jokes about not dunking the wrong one over the side of the boat(Shark bait?)
Winter time I played basketball first for school time then town team .. and walked long miles to and from school all my school years.
All my school summer holidays were spent fishing, crabbing or swimming at the beach with my cousins. I'd get up early eat breakfast, pack myself a lunch, put my swimmers on and hop on the bike and go.
In later life I spent some time away from beach in places like Alice Springs but there were water holes to swim in and the Tanks at Ross River Station.
Even living in Switzerland there were lakes and rivers never too far away.In America I tried a variety of activities in all weathers from snowmobile riding to sailing and indoors sport was Tae Kwon Do.
I did Tae Kwon Do again years later with my then 12 yr old daughter.
Back on home turf I became a more cautious swimmer .. a lot more fearful of things like rip tides, stingrays, sharks etc.
I now look for a lake or river to paddle a surfski or canoe on when I can .. or best fitness aid for me is finding a handy pool with regular Aquarobics classes where I not only stay trim and supple .. but stop subjecting my, now more delicate to burning sunrays!

Elf - so true - nothing more exhilarating than making love in a waterfall!
Posted by: willow29 at September 4, 2008 10:29 AM
tassie, under the heavens, oh yes!
I spent part of my honeymoon on a nudist beach in Cairns - bliss!
Other parts were sitting around on remote beaches at the top with nothing but waves, sun and sunscreen between myself and my lover.
Then there was the rainforest relote areas....and the waterfalls in the remote areas up in the far north....
And the pool, after midnight, at home...champagne and kisses and the stars, and little else needed for the two of us...
What constitutes sports with these kind of activities???? It certainly was never competitive, that is for sure, but outdoor activities that made the heart pace, broke out the sweat, and left me wonderfully exhausted...it beats competitive sport for me anyday!

I remember spending New Year at Jindabyne, 5 or so years ago and the night sky was so beautiful. 5 families in a chalet, one night the adults all went out for dinner leaving the kids behind, ranging from 17 years to 10.
When we got back, all of the kids were sitting outside by the lake edge on banana lounges, covered with doonas watching that brilliant night sky.......they were quite struck by the beauty of the sky and the countless stars........it really was quite a scene..........................K

tassiedude: The sunset & the sun rise will blow ya mind... the sensation of being such a minuscule part of this fantastic universe is so moving. As for making magic outside in a desert storm is ohhh soo hmmm.... yep you will make music like it's ya last breath ... :)

This time of the year is just the best, warm days; cool nights...ahhh snuggled on a swag, fire down to the coals, lying there chasing stars. Playing spoto for shooting stars & satellites.... collecting kisses for every one ya spot. Owls flying past, night noises that make ya realise ya not alone but ya are 'cause no other human is around for miles. The feeling of isolation & the sensation of vastness because the dark of night is such an intense black ya just can't imagine. The magic of moonlight on the bush as if a sheer veil has been gently laid over the landscape. Cliffs & gorges are Mother Nature's architecture, gums & scrub her landscaping. Night storms rolling in from the distance, electricity you can feel raise the hair on the back of ya neck. The smell of rain coming & the air is clean & sweet cause it's danced over the dry land in front of the storm. Desert rain on ya body... Oh my what a sensation.... so liberating, so sensual, so much fun :) ... hmm what a setting for the escape from the city.... a quiet is soo intense ya sure ya ears are ringing & for some a connection with the land a blessing so few ever experience. Yep camp fire smoke & red dust in my eyes but it's just the best. Gentle sighs & big smiles.....

My heart and nature are always pulled to the ocean (I'm a Cancerian after all!!)
But the magic of being in the middle of Nowhere, particularly at night when the sky is so clear and bright.....no traffic;no sign of so-called civilisation glowing on the horizon and the coals of your campfire, glowing in the dark!
The spot on the dry bed of the Fitzroy River under the shade of river gums........
The spot near the"Wall of China" outside Halls Creek........
I wanna go BACK!
Posted by: kurli at September 3, 2008 10:10 PM
Depends where you are! Wolf spiders, scorpions, centipedes, wild pigs, crocs... all go walkies at night time - but if you make a bit of noise.... you usually get left alone.
And really, how do you know its magic if it's silent? But not too much noise or the dingoes might join the chorus :)

Tassie, as a muso you would love it, the sounds of birds come in for a drink at dusk, the desert coming alive at night under a full moon, the finchs calling in the day at sunrise & a lone dingo calling for its mate in the distances,
To tell you the truth l really like go bush with portable stereo & play my music.
there is nothing like listerning to the last of the mohican ( soundtrack) floating over the red sanddunes, Bon Jovi this left feels right watching a sunrise over a waterhole, AC/DC in a lightern storm at dusk in 40 deg heart, listern to Bach as watch a mob of Kangroos hop past in the moonlight & playing steve earles copperhead rd driving flat out down a dirt track ( Sorry its my redneck side coming out :) )
Posted by: outbackdrifter at September 3, 2008 9:00 PM
Willow you've just put a thought in my head.
Making magic on the beach, under the moonlight with the waves crashing, is one thing.
But making magic with someone in the middle of the desert under the heavens............
Now thats an entirely different matter.
Woha................ I need a cold shower.
Seriously Outback are there any nasty little critters out there that one would need to worry about?
Posted by: tassiedude1 at September 3, 2008 8:30 PM
Rod, you should do it - its inspirational!
The sounds, sights, smells of the desert are unique. At night you can look into the heavens and see forever.
Posted by: willow29 at September 3, 2008 7:19 PM
Hi ya Outback
One thing I've never done is seen the desert.
I, like Starry, grew up on the beach. I have an old photo of me somewhere as a wee little tacker riding my older brother's surfboard. By the time I was in my teens I surfed every weekend, was into skin diving and water skiing and virtually lived in the water.
Must add too. I spent two weeks on Flinders Island. It was fantastic. Green lipped abalone by the bucket load. I caught a 6.5kg Cray with my bare hands, left quite a nasty scar and I'm sure I lost about a pint of blood, still managed to hang on to him and avoid the sharks. And the locals were terrific. It's custom over there to wave at every passing car and the pub was filled with interesting people with unusual stories.
Anyway one day I am sure to get to the dessert and just stand there in the middle of nowhere, watching the sunset, thinking to myself how good life really is.
Cheers Rod
Posted by: tassiedude1 at September 3, 2008 5:11 PM
Someone once warned me not to go to the beach because it was overcrowded with RSVP members! :-)
Picnic beneath the stars sounds my ideal. When it's a nice balmy
evening with a clear sky and full moon, I like to set up my telescope in the backyard. There is something magical about looking through the lense and being able to see the moon's surface. A small glimpse of a greater universe....sigh.

Willow, well that would be a dream come true ;)
Posted by: outbackdrifter at September 3, 2008 12:35 PM
Drifter, what about going bush with your "girl" AND your dogs - pointing out the wildflowers, the half hidden lizard, the wedgetail chick in the nest.. the colours in a stone..a parrot feather...
Posted by: willow29 at September 3, 2008 12:14 PM
For me its outdoors everytime, I live, work & breath the outdoor & I can not see myself doing anything else.
The desert is the most amazing place it seems dead but in fact it is teaming with life :)
I can not think of anything better then just going bush with my dogs :))))
Posted by: outbackdrifter at September 3, 2008 11:00 AM
I agree Starryeyez - I love the coral reefs and rock pools along the shore.
Not much beach up here though but the riverside is great. I went riding yesterday afternoon (don't tell my boss) and it was fantastic. There were pelicans, black swans with cygnets (5 of fluffy little things), mistletoe birds in full scarlet mating plumage, wrens, roos with joeys...the full nature works. Don't you just love spring?
Posted by: willow29 at September 3, 2008 9:59 AM
Lived by the ocean, almost all of my life. There is something so soothing, healing and so natural about the ocean. I love the sounds, sights and smells of the ocean. I love to swim in the sea, taste the salt and feel the sun warm my skin
I love to go exploring, around the foreshore, rocks and cliffs with my dog.
You don't need to be on a date to enjoy it. It's just as nice to go there all by yourself :)
Posted by: starryeyez at September 3, 2008 9:34 AM
not quite up to the gruelling game of footy but getting my feet wet or my face dirty isnt daunting. However there is something to be said about a walk in the park or an exhileration bushwalk plenty to see, feel and hear
Posted by: jaqrulz at September 3, 2008 12:11 AM
Outdoors for me means being 'as one' with nature as well as playing sport and walking to keep fit.
Feeling the warmth of the sun, watching seasonal changes of the bush and listening and watching is the most beautiful experience. My best adventure would be that through Kimbrleys..unbelievable country...
