dukedakota @ 8.30am...

Perhaps you'd care to give us the short-cut translation of your post? As useful comments go.. well.. it's not, really, is it.

..I'm sure we could work it out.. if we had time on our hands.. but there are crossword puzzles for that.
Are you addressing anyone in particular?
You're a new blogger... are we to expect this sort of cleverness from you often?

Thank you ladies...I was flabberghasted (sp?)when I read his comments...but it does support what I said several months ago and now Ninaschen has said...DOM...and I won't be apologising this time...that's for sure.

waterbombe @ 10.20 pm: You say I should get out more? I do the best I can, at 72. Example:

My lunch last Sunday was a 2-hour RSVP first date at a cafe.. On to support a depressed friend all afternoon, then dinner was a servo pie on the way to night tennis. Back home after 10 hours out.

Monday morning I made salads and sangas and then took another first date by ferry to a Bay island for lunch, talked all arvo, 4pm coffee and then home across the sea at sunset. Six hours out.

Tuesday night tennis again.

Had also planned to see a movie alone on Saturday night, but then decided to do some $$ work at home instead. I have a busy social life to support - next first date will be Friday night I hope.

Do you get out much yourself, waterbombe?

Posted by: timewarp1 at May 8, 2008 2:03 AM

My sincere apologies to any reader who was legitimately upset by my picking up istj's reference to changing her byline, but still smelling as sweet, in the sentence after she referred to THAT shower, in her post immediately below

Karina, please feel free to reconsider your original verdict that my 7.40pm post was an OK follow-on response to istj's at 5.15pm.

And please take into account whether waterbombe has any outstanding ego issues with me at the moment from this and another blog, and please remember the importance of the role ninaschen has assumed for herself in these blogs.

Posted by: timewarp1 at May 8, 2008 1:33 AM

Timewarp1, this comment of yours to istj is appalling: "I can't actually smell from here whether you've had that post-coital shower yet". Posted by: timewarp1 at May 7, 2008 7:40 PM

RSVP could you remove that on the grounds of keeping some standards of good taste on here? It is totally besides the point and quite degrading to the other blogger.

TW, go and get out more, you certainly sound like you need to.

Posted by: waterbombe at May 7, 2008 10:20 PM

TW - Your last post was in extremely poor taste. You have gone too far. ISTJ will be well supported if she were to complain to the moderators about your comment. Get a grip. You are morphing into a 'dirty old man'. Shame on you.

Posted by: ninaschen at May 7, 2008 9:51 PM

istj @ 5.15pm: So you've learned the ventriloquist trick too? Clever girl!

Some of my friends have also been trying to throw their voices, with varying results. I haven't got time even to experiment. Happy to try to take the mickey out of people above my usual boring old by-line. Puts them off guard.

And I have to agree with you about dancing on an empty stomach a bit after sunset, and then eating later. Way to go.

But add one leisurely drink together first, once both have arrived home from work, and you're slipping out of your work roles. Ours was usually a long cold Pimms.

And unless the apres-shag dinner was going to be out on the town, we just went for japanese wraps, not dressing up. Too much work, when you're already relaxed and purring.

Posted by: timewarp1 at May 7, 2008 7:40 PM

Here's one to spice up the dinner party that you all seem to be preparing to spice things up...with curries and casseroles...turn the evening upside down by starting in the bedroom and then showering/bathing and getting dressed up and having dinner later...I tell you the eye contact later is amazing:))

TW....I am not really back as me. I am still someone else...work that one out. Just remember that a rose by any other name is just as sweet.

Rightho Kaz.
Protien of choice, If you want it battered let me know what type.
Curry
I large Onion, very finely sliced
I teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon finely grated ginger
1teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground cummin
1/2 teaspoon tumeric
1 teaspoon ground Mexican chilli powder
1 1/2 cups of good brown vinegar
1 cup of water
4 ounces of creamed coconut
2 ripe tomatoes chopped (peeled

Mix the dried and liquid and render to taste
add coconut and tomatoes, onion at the end and simmer.
Kaz if that is not hot enough for you go to the old standby, Tobasco Pepper sauce added to heat desired.
This can be rendered down to dip consistency for Tempura of fritters or more liquid over steamed rice with the protien side.
To make it truly hot add the liquids and dry in a non metal bowl for a couple of days then render ( the metal bowls tend to melt).
Enjoy OG

Lovemusik, this is a sometimes-successful singles site and when people partner up, they keep blogging ...so there are coupled-up people writing on the blogs as well, although it would be not quite fair to find them on the dating site. The blogs and the dating site are independent....they have separate web addresses and you can read the blogs without belonging to RSVP.

But who are we kidding, there are a lot of married people on RSVP looking for a dalliance...RSVP is a singles site in name only. However although the married people need to be dodged on an almost weekly basis, I still think it has the lowest 'sleaze quotient' of any of the singles sites.

lovemuzik posted at 7:54pm:
"The only puzzle for me about this blog is why it's here. This is a singles' site. This blog seems to be aiming at people already in relationships."

What about this: Relationships are a minefield for the bumble-footed, and being a boring boy or girlfrield is one of the no-nos.

Especially now that more people believe that they DESERVE romance (and anything else that Cleo and Co have suggested to them.) And are quicker to vote with their feet, if their current partner doesn't keep measuring up to those fantasies. Shape up mate, or she'll ship out. So it's important.

If you look at the people posting to these blogs, it seems to me there are a lot more recycled singles than first-timers. We've been there before.

So I guess Karina is running blogs like this one to give us a chance to comment on things that we had tried, hoping to spice up our previous relationships, and whether they worked or not.

To prepare the rest of us better to satisfy our next partner's fantasies. And maybe have a laugh. That "Ta Daaa!" was the funniest thing I've read for a while. I'm still smiling.

ISTJ

Welcome back, it has been a bit quiet during the day. Maybe people are out earning a dollar.

Posted by: virgil at May 6, 2008 9:32 PM

I'd like to take back what I said about this topic not being appropriate for a singles' site. Of course it is!!!

What was I thinking!? When I came to my senses, I had already clicked "Post your commnet"!

Posted by: lovemuzik at May 6, 2008 8:04 PM

In the scheme of things, it's true the picture of a blog isn't all that important.

But, unlike Virgil, I think the picture for this blog is totally suitable. It's so suitable that it's almost a cliche picture for spicing up a relationship.

When I think of a boring relationship, I think of words like: coldness, blandness, lack of spark.

When I think of a good healthy relationship, I think of words like: warmth, interesting, sparkling. A fire seems to me the perfect metaphor to summarise all these words.

The only puzzle for me about this blog is why it's here. This is a singles' site. This blog seems to be aiming at people already in relationships.

Posted by: lovemuzik at May 6, 2008 7:54 PM

Well Virgil your suggestion has sent Karina off searching for pictures and not updating the blogs...for some hours now...unless no one has been writing today.

Posted by: istj54 at May 6, 2008 6:39 PM

Karina

Sometimes when I see that the picture doesnt fit the blog, I dont worry about it too much becausw in the scheme of things, it is not that imporant.

Here I would like to make a comment, in that a brilliant picture for this blog would have been the chocolate dripping strawberries.

The cheating blog could have been fronted with 2 pictures, one showin a man cheating, the other showing a woman cheating, or evnt the fire picture if you couldn't find something like that.

This blog might have been so much richer itf the picture up front stimulated our imagination in this way.

Maybe the fire pic could have been used for a blog specific to winter, maybe launched in July.

JenJen: Relaxing short-day trip from BrisVegas. I usually go about once a year with about 15 from my social club Dabblers. We car pool, and ferry over about 10am, then walk round the beach anticlockwise.

Slow walkers go half way round, then cut back across the middle, faster group walk right round, and all meet at the wharf kiosk for lunch. Then yabber, read the paper or calm-sea dip. A real stress-reliever.

You've won me Pastor at 10.31. And very persuasively put.

I'm actually kind enough to believe no-one should ever be crucified in any significant way for preaching tolerance, inclusivity and love, anywhere or anytime.

Not now, but also not then. Only for being an attacker of the weak.

On the other hand, having a go at the strong or your equals is OK. Especially in jest. They can take it, or if not, they need to learn how to.

Must hurry off to today's RSVP first-date seaside lunch (holiday in Qld.) She's between jobs and down, and I'm having a lean patch, so to economise, I've made us sangas and a tossed salad. Seeyez.

Virgil @ 11.40am: I reckon you deserve to be very proud of the way you've assembled your current personal value system consciously from first principles, bit by bit, rather than just blindly accepting what your parents, teachers, clergy or peers told you to believe.

That's your personal contribution to the progress of world opinion towards tolerance and civilisation.

That means a lot to me TW.

Tolerance and a fair go, were the building blocks of this nation, showing support for those doing it tough, like our chuch marching with the gay pride movement, didnt mean we wanted to embrace that lifestyle personally, but supporting the oppressed and marginalised is the Christian thing to do.

Peace protests against Howards war, didn't stop him, but a few years later the people of Australia spoke in a language he did understand.

Standing up for our beliefs and values is what Australians went to war for, in the end, intolerance and bigotry will fade into history.

Posted by: virgil at May 5, 2008 10:46 AM

TW

Thanks for the kind words. In my explaining my worldview, even asking what is wrong with constructing a reality that I can believe and trust in, I crystallize my thoughts by actually writing them, in the same way as people such as Anthony Robbins insists we write our goals down, rather than just have them in our heads.

Bearing in mind the blogs are read by the regulars, and no doubt many who choose not to contribute, for fear of attack from the OLD Goat, or possibly someone else, I chose a writing style that asked the question, rather than stating my belief.

There truly is only one dinosour in this place, one that suggested I leave, as he was the catalyst for Willow leaving.

The events of the last few days have, I feel brought an issue out into the open, where one persons "bigoted Bullying" and worldview firmly entrenced in the 1950's attempts to stifle the emerging reality of today, where we feel comfortable belonging to a mainstream church, but contribute to that by stating that the prevalent worldview at the time of Christ, is not appropriate for 2008.

Neither is that of the 1950's.

Thelynathdiary - those self closing hotel doors get me all the time, usually when I have slipped out to the ice machine in my nightie...

Another story and not a recipe today; a recent boyfriend thought I was being a bit of a workaholic (true at times) and he was being neglected. So came into work at 11.45 hrs in a dark suit, tie and sunglasses demanding to see the manager (me).
My assistant ushered him into my office looking very grim, staying long enough to hear "I have a complaint to make about my treatment..." as she closed the door. What she didn't hear was "...You didn't give me a good enough kiss good bye and I want a replacement - warmer, longer and better - right now!"

15 minutes later he marched me out of the department, took me home for 'replacement' and 'lunch' - then back to work where I achieved very little for the rest of the day... The staff were very sympathetic about the 'tough cookie' complainer... Shame he moved to London, he was a lot of fun - and no, I never neglected him again...

Posted by: firelightlady at May 5, 2008 10:19 AM

KAZZA there is another thing that will make the mixture even better. Buy a mortar and pestle. It doesnt need to be a big granite one like mine but something a bit more easier to handle, then do the crush the spices in some sort of quantities, then add oil to it and make a paste, so that when you want to flavour something use that. As long as its sealed it will keep, and another little tip, that you can use with tomato paste cover it with oil in a jar. That way the air doesnt get to it and cause the mould to grow.....And if you like i will give you my curry mix recipe, but you cant share it with anyone.......lol

That's your personal contribution to the progress of world opinion towards tolerance and civilisation.

You don't need to explain your value system to anyone, Virgil, let alone ask their approval for it. Mate, that really is being a bit wimpy.

Stand tall instead, and say with me

"You can believe what you like, old son, and that's OK with me.

But don't you dare try to ram your values down my throat.

Or tell me I'm wrong, just because I think different from you, and therefore threaten your comfort zone. Because you think you've got a world patent on correct thinking.

Because that is called BIGOTED BULLYING.

And in the modern world, while we try to eliminate tyranny and hate, and the suppression of harmless dissenting viewpoints, and while we try to replace them with freedom and love, and the acceptance of harmless differences of opinion, old son, bigoted is dead out of fashion. Dinosaur stuff.

So back off, bullies of all ages and genders!"

I went with my husband to a hotel for romantic night.
I had bought and packed all the essential 'dirty weekend' underwear as an extra surprise. We ordered room service and then I went into the bathroom to get ready.
I was in bra, stockings and suspenders and black spike heels when I heard room service arrive and then the room door closed.

With great anticipation and a big smile
I flung open the bathroom door and leapt out into the room saying " Ta Da! How do you like this?" which was when I realised that there were two men in the room...one husband one room service husband mid signature....both looked, shocked. both with mouth hanging open..... I never moved so fast as back into the bathroom and then room service guy bolted from the room.. We spent the rest of the night laughing until we couldn't laugh anymore. The sultry seductress disappeared for some time...

The next day I wore hat and sunglasses and sneaked out never to return to that hotel

There was the later incident involving a grass hula skirt when...oh never mind....

shyhumourouspassionatepetmouse,

Earl is that you?

In the event that your posts are not just a mousetrap, I suggest that since you have known this person for years, and well enough to sleep together and swap clothes, that if it bothers you just ask him.

For the record cross dressers are mostly not gay and gay men do not all like dressing up as women,.

Transexuals who also dress in cross gender clothes may not be gay but identify with the gender they feel they should be.

He might just like being submissive

The reason he keeps you from his friends is probably because he is hiding his sexuality for lots of reason and can't risk his two worlds colliding, or piossibly he is married.

Waterlily58 - I'm from Tas. (Had all sorts of issues with my profile!)

Yep, I agree! - love having dinner cooked for me!

And Yep, I agree - need a cooking blog for all you foodies!

Where? - I ask - are the bits about spicing up your life? Like - suggestions about trying to do 'it' on the trampoline! Or on the sunny embankment after nudie swimming (good way to dry off!) or at the very least suggestions about reading poetry to one another on the freezing cold deck under the starts and a warm doona? Hello.... is there any body out there? (apart from the hungry and the back biters)?

Posted by: zooropa5 at May 4, 2008 3:34 PM

hahaha... you foodies!

(I have to admit to skipping over food-based posts, as I do the recipe pages in anything.. being the type who eats to live, rather than the other way around!)

Personally, while I enjoy good food, it's an inconvenience to me... I get absorbed in what I'm doing & simply forget to eat.
Luckily I have friends who know this.. they phone to remind me, & interrogate me on my day's intake!

hahaha, thanks guys.... here but for the grace of your calls!

"friends - he keeps them to himself and joins mine"
"I would value your comments".

h&p.. why does he keep his friends to himself if he so readily joins yours?

..for me, this is the thing that leapt out of your list as being out of balance. Have you expressed an interest in meeting his friends? Has he given a reason for keeping them to himself? If you have been seeing him on & off for years.. surely you would have talked about them to some extent?
Is it that he is 'keeping them to himself' or are you disinterested in meeting them?

If the former, I would wonder why.

Posted by: auntykaz at May 4, 2008 11:46 AM

Yum........
auntykaz, that was a tasty post. Last night I made a very spicy Asian stirfry, marinated chicken in chilli sauce and about 4 different asian sauces lying, plus chinese five spice, heaps of garlic and about 12 vegetables. Together with egg noodles and some Coopers Beer, with a good girlfriend, there is something to be said for good food and conversation.

Recently I have met a non RSVP man who is a friend at the moment........sigh, but he likes to cook for me. I am extremely impressed. I always thought the way to a mans heart was through his stomach as the old saying says. However I am very happy about this friends culinary skills and hospitality and think the way to my heart could be by his cooking (partially). It is one thing to cook, another to be a gracious host. Trouble is, am pretty sure he cooks much better than me.

Cheers all.

Thank you firelight, entrpres & others for your comments re my supposed cross-dresser.
I have been seeing him on and off for years. He is lovely and sensitive and intelligent but I cant help wondering if he is gay.
You are wise clever girls, what signs do you look for? There are the clothes of course, but the sex is good and gentle.
The obvious signs I thought would be grooming - he is carefree but clean
music - not much to go on there - no divas
friends - he keeps them to himself and joins mine
choice of career - he is in computers
emotional - yes, he cries and shows when he is frightened and lets me lead to some extent
I would value your comments. Love your blogs you all sound lovely and deserve the best.

lailaj. Try $16 to $19 for loin up here loved the thought of the sycnronisity with the dicing.
Two(not Blue) eyes. Yes that steak and Kidney sends my neighbours crazy when I cook it, their wives will not and the men love it, I cannot eat the kidneys (unless they are deviled and grilled) so the mobile garbage disposal unit next door loves me too. Sent a friend my method for cooking scrag stew the other day, haven't heard back yet how it went, but she is meeting a new (maybe) Beau so she might be trying it out on him.
Kaz.
it is so long since I had some one cook for me I have forgotten what somebody elses home cooked food tastes like. Your idea of staying away from the sons receipe is a smart move
Perth.
6x400 gram battery eggs @ $2.49, and yes the smell beats the air fresheners in the car. no wonder so many nswelshers are leaving the state, I had no idea of the disparity state to state in food prices.
Guilty.
Seems you do a fair bit of vegitarian cooking the pumpkin and lentil burgers sound good, a bit like Bubble and Squeak burgers I make when I have a vegi guest.over.
Lastly Virgil.
the art of the insult is precisely that, short to the point and making the recipient think.
The art of the retort, should be that too, not long winded and in episodes invoking the aid of anyone you can for help, that only confirms the truth of the original barb. As you have also invoked Willow, I made contact with him over several emails, we discussed the incident I have made overtures public and private for him to rejoin, he has declined for his own reasons and I am not at liberty to disclose them. I think willow will be keeping a friendly eye on the happenings in blogland so if and when he returns I for one will welcome him. Tell me have "you" thought of taking a sabatical?

If you make a lovely creamy chicken curry and then stir in some wonderful brie or camembert at the end of cooking so that it melts into the flavours, it's a whole new taste sensation. Mind you with the curry the cheese and as Kaz says all the other goodies no wonder my waistline at the moment is not looking so good. Ahh, but would anyone notice after a meal like that...lol

I cooked some lamb shanks with lemon and green olives and whatever herb you fancy. Just cut some baking paper and stand each individual shank in the middle pull the paper up. Stand each one in a baking dish and cook for 3 to 4 hours, unbelievable!!!! and how easy is that and no mess...yay.

Posted by: iaminperth at May 4, 2008 12:05 PM

Good for you Virgil and well said. Totally agree but OG/TW basically say the same thing, use the same terminology and have the same self absorbed over inflated egos. Unfortunately egos don't maketh the man and in my experience equate to total failure in the real world

Posted by: iaminperth at May 4, 2008 11:58 AM

There is something very evocative in food, that is for sure.
The aromas of slow cooking wafting through the house during the cooler months are warming, nearly as much as the fire blazing away is.....
Comfort that is it......
The memories and comfort that the simple task of cooking gives us, the selecting of the best meat, the freshest, plumpest vegetables......
Grinding up spices in the mortar and pestle, now how about the spice smells as they are being gently broken up and mixed with each other to create the most tasty powder / pastes.

Bringing together all of your ingredients and creating a tasty meal, one that gives everyone the pleasure of eating, savoring, and wanting more........
Sharing a bottle of plump luscious red or two, and then some lovely cheese, fruit and chocolate to finish the meal.
Anyone getting hungry ???...........K

From what I can gather, homosexuality between men is an abomination, but between women it is OK.

Difference is to be squashed, not celebrated.

Your ideas are correct, and those that are different are "suss".

Your view of history is correct, and all others are wrong.

Let me tell you, that your uncalled for attacks on Willow and myself, caused Willow to leave the blogs, this you well know, and are no doubt proud of.

Willow is very much missed by many here.

Your contribution to the blog seems to be mainly conflict based, choosing what you perceive as easy targets like Willow and myself.

Your clumsy attempts to induct others like Perth, into your dinosour club were publicly rejected. Even TW wants nothing to do with the idea.

The fact that I can say what I believe in, leaves me open to attack from you, as you have chosen to do.

Does it make you feel more of a man to attack me?
Do you feel your attacks will bring you the admiration and respect of people here?

Someone said they liked roast shoulder more that leg. Agreed, and I also prefer shoulder "BBQ" chops (at $6 to $7 a kilo for 1.25kg and up) to loin at most of double that, here in BrizVegas. Again, more flavour.

I love a good curry in the winter and buy meat from the Chinese butchers in Northbridge. Not pretty packaging and the meat is sold in small slabs but it's really good, really fresh and extremely well priced. Also buy fresh eggs by the dozen for $2.50 x large. Great fun shopping, very fast, very efficient and out the door. Spices from Kakulas Bros down the road and then across to Trans for anything else. I love stocking up on the Asian groceries picking out specialties and getting advice from the shopkeepers. My car smells beautiful for a week after my little excursions.

If no one has every called you a sanctimonious syncophant before consider it done. At least I know what I am. You are searching at very late middle age for something I think you are incapable of finding.
Posted by: oldergoat at May 3, 2008 1:34 PM

Well I wasnt sure if I was being complimented or what here so I looked up the words:

Sanctimonious: as applied to me, well I dont think so, as clearly evidenced where I do not agree with some part of a religious tradition, I just dont buy into it.

syncophant This word was harder to find until I realised you had just spelt it wrong.

A sycophant (Gr. (συκοφάντης)) is a servile person who, acting in their own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential person, with an undertone that this is at the cost of their own personal pride, principles, and peer respect.

Well, I am not servile, and I never try to win peoples favour, by undermining my own personal pride and princilpes.

I am 56, old enough, I have lived enough, to be able to follow my heart, and principles in what I do.

I enjoy my spiritual beliefs I love my AFL, and would only ever attend church in preference to footy, if they played a game on Good Friday (which is unlikely to ever happen).

I had searched for things to add meaning to my life in a spiritual way, and I believe that 10 years or so ago, I found a mix of beliefs and things I am fairly comfortable with. While I dont feel the need to push that on anyone, I similarly dont feel I should change what I am to fit anyones idea of what I should be.

All this talk of nice slow cooked food is inspiring me to get my son to make his yummy three shank soup......I don't know what he puts into it, but by the time he has finished, the kitchen is a mess and the aromatics are wonderful......Tastes pretty good too.....
And if l don't know how to cook it, then l get a night off cooking ....bonus !!!!!.............K

Could the 51 year old man I was looking at earlier this week please spice things up by posting photos of himself that do not date from 1991. I'm not sure if it's the Tom Selleck moustache, or the bad hawaiian shirt you're wearing, but I guarantee I'd think about sending a kiss if I knew what you actually look like.

All these recipes have inspired me. Osso Bucco, a pasta bake, a vegetable curry and some pumpkin and lentil burgers are being prepared and made ready for the mid-week dinner surge. What a beautiful autumn day for slow cooking.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

NW...very clever:))...I was wondering how you knew I had a laptop...liked the analogy too...but have you ever tried to pick up a crushed pappadum?...bit like Humpty Dumpty.
OG I made a wonderful chicken and vegetable soup yesterday...we could have been chopping those vegies in sync...and you have earned the right to be grumpy...we all are at times and why not be honest and up front about it?
Kaz, you can get loin chops at $9.99 kg in Oakleigh...the rate my son eats them, just as well.

Posted by: lailaj at May 4, 2008 8:56 AM

lamb shanks are the best, and theres another cut that is now very expensive, and never used to be.

Osso Bucco now thats some sort of casserole, but then the prices of offal has also skyrocketed. Nothing like a nice steak and kidney pie me says, or maybe some black or white pudding. Try finding that anywhere soon.

Hoggett, mutton etc are way better then lamd, ( unless you come from NZ, where canterbury lamb is the best in the world)

Thinking of recipies now.

I kid you not, a small country town in nsw(Small nsw now) 2 supermarkets, 2 small butchers struggling, no green grocer. That is the premium mince, hamburger $10, Mushies $10.99 kilo. the joys of living in the Premier state, not.

from reading Lailaj's post I gather Lailaj was lamenting about the good ol' days on the blogs..whilst reading her blogs in bed..I'm guessing that Lailaj was referring to a laptop..? help me out here Lailaj!

I guess one can't take a PC to bed with them..might cramp their style ..but then again..people do have their strange fetishes..(but not in Lailaj's case)..sheesh!

While we're digressing, what about lamb shanks? When I was a girl, shanks were dog food except in winter when they went into the vegie soup. Now the damn things are $3.00 a piece!!.My Nan would turn in her grave...

Posted by: victoriadownunder at May 3, 2008 7:48 PM

Kaz I still order it as two tooth Hogget, but it has to be ordered and is dearer than lamb.
Special order only, in carcass lot.

The shoulder done most ways and cooked properly is nicer than the leg, to my mind. But most meat is becoming a luxury, seen fillet steak yesterday @ $36 a kilo and the mince @ $14 a kilo, in this country?

Twoeyes,
Nicely explained, in the trade? Once it is eaten when cooked properly it is hard to go back to lamb. Unfortunately it is hard to source now with the supermarkets taking over and only selling what they want to us. Ergo a lot of the cheaper cuts of my youth that the women cooked to perfection are no longer available with the prepacks they receive in the meat dept of supermarkets.

Naturalwoman.
The ultimate goal? portable bed partner, get sloshed, talk to yourself, yes then cancel the RSVP maybe, who needs the other gender! Just think, if the relationship is good why do you need to spice it up, why did you stop what was spicing it up to start with if not.
Cheers OG

Posted by: oldergent at May 3, 2008 2:31 PM

twoeyes at 10:26am: Two things:

1) Are you telling me that all the "lamb" I see in the supermarket was under one year old? Or are they usually lying, to make a sale to all the people too proud to eat hogget or mutton?

Or too uneducated to know the difference, though they know veal from beef? Might they think mutton and hoggett come from goats?

We had 20,000 fine-micron merinos, and wouldn't dream of killing one for the table till we'd got a couple of fleeces off it. And what happened to the thousands of already aging ewes that we sold to butchers each year?

2) About that doona - don't be put off by what the dinosaur immediately said so churlishly (he thought it was relievedly) about your appearance, when he first looked.

Women are more into your inside, mate, where a good nature does or doesn't live. They're not superficial - they know that the surface is just to hold everything from falling apart. Thats why they wear bras and things....

If you've got it, flaunt it, I say. Whatever it is. No empathetic person is going to rubbish your looks, once you've opened your mouth and good stuff has come out.

I hate housework. When I'm richer I'll delegate it. Fast. Think I'll finish inventing the fridge crane for the pole house instead.

Twoeyes:considering a hogget is a young unsheared sheep one would question where your tastes lie?

meat of a lamb is taken from the animal between one month and one year old, with a carcass weight of between 5.5 and 30 kilograms (12 and 65 lbs). This meat generally is more tender than that from older sheep and appears more often on tables in some Western countries. Mutton and hogget have a stronger flavour than lamb because they contain a higher concentration of species-characteristic fatty acids and are preferred by some consumers.[1] Mutton and hogget also tend to be tougher than lamb (because of connective tissue maturation) and are therefore better suited to casserole-style cooking.

methinks your slightly incorrect there sally.....

Posted by: twoeyes at May 3, 2008 10:23 AM

I remember a time just a few...well five or six now...months ago when I would just love to read the blogs in bed on a Saturday morning...I'd mull over the week's or nights opinions and form a response or two or twenty...but, alas and alak, no more.

What has happened? Is it the non-instant blogging...don't think so because it used to be this way and I still enjoyed them...Is it because we harp on and on,ad nauseum, about the same old things. I've got an idea to try to spice up the blogs...let's make a pact to just comment "once" on a particular thing and not go back to it unless you actually do have something NEW to say about it.

Hello from Zoo! (42yr old female - TAS) sat 1:41am

Spice up your life? Hmmmm....Don't do the laundry for a week? Get some baby goats(that bleat all night)? Or invite your old boyfriend over for a bike ride and then don't go for the bike ride! Or have '2 minute' noodles for lunch and put the WHOLE packet of spice in! OR!!! padlock the hall door - take all your clothes off - and try doing it on the couch - without losing a sock, your glasses, the kama sutra book or your knee brace down the cushions. Or you could go to bed and play spin the chocolate until one of you is nakie and the other is full of chocolate! a win/win situation! Speaking of bed - better go, it's almost 2 in the AM! See ya!

Comes up a treat after a slow cook!!! Cheers..G

Posted by: amdoingit at May 2, 2008 9:43 PM

Firelight,
the only thing I could add to that slow cooking method is a Marinade injector to pump the meat (any meat) as the slower you cook the better, it is particularly good when you dry rub season. Another good way to go is to get the Souvlaki herb mix (on lamb, or two tooth hogget) from a good greek deli, marinate with lemon juice, olive oil, herbs, in a tub for a day or two and slow cook.
Cheers OG

Hi everyone, not sure this on subject but anyway, am sitting here with three shoulders of lamb on the barbie. These are resting on whole garlic cloves and sprigs of rosemary, having been rubbed all over with olive oil, seasoning and garlic pounded with rosemary. Bubbling in its own fat and some judicially 'measured' red wine. Basting occasionally with a jigger of red wine and olive oil.

The kids are finding 'robust' glasses, putting flatware on the table, retrieving candles from the freezer (they don't drip after being there), son has shaved so next doors 15 yr daughter has accepted invite!, friends are arriving soon, sun is setting over lavender coloured hills - Life simply doesn't get much better than this.

If you haven't ever gone the lamb shoulder it is beautiful for slow roasting, very forgiving of late guests on a Friday. Roatsed vegetables, olive sourdough bread, and yes, mint sauce for the traditionalists.

A special guy would be great but in the meantime the Cointreau and chocolate mousse is amazing! (I was going for Jaffa but this is SO much nicer!)

Have to go kids are arguing about the music... everyone have a great weekend. xx

I don't think there would be a member on this site who HASN'T received a kiss & been instantly repulsed/recognised a type that offends every sensibility/seen the falseness of that person's image projection (sometimes all three simultaneously).. would there?

Couldn’t agree more about the Freudian connections.

All very anal retentive, if you ask me.

They all need a good laxative

Posted by: captthunderbox at May 2, 2008 9:59 AM

G.
Now theres the name for you, every one knows your call off signature already, Hard to muck around with that. However am interested with the new one. What I have noticed with a lot of the names choosen is the Freudian connections, in a lot of cases very accurate.

There has been a lot of talk about the instant attraction and recognition and searching for the ONE, it seems to have boiled down to a human trait (naturally).

But how many are honest enought to say that the exact opposite emotion occurs. Instant repulsion, recognition of a type that offends every sensibility, the ability to see the falseness of that persons image projection.
I am not hitting on the Capt'n type of person, his is done with humour and wit, and seems to disguise his real self very well.

Virgil... Definitely nothing to do with Marcus.

You're right about the distance thing. Just a mindset and you'll get over it.
I used to fly along that Coast Hwy every few weeks to go visit my best friend who had the Mingenew Hotel back in the early 70's. Was an "open" Hwy back then so took no time to get there.
Frequent trips to Albany and still have a girlfriend there.
Actually my folks used to take the train from Perth to Adelaide and I'd drive there so we could spend a few days together. Wasn't a bad run but then again I was going from Geelong so wasn't as far as Melb.
Friend of mine's partner left a few days ago for the Nullabor drive as he's working in Kalgoorlie for a few months. Was going to go via the Hamilton H'wy to Mt Gambier, etc. Will be interesting to see how he found that way..
Anyway.. Let us know when you plan on heading over as I'm sure there's a few of us who'd like to catch up........"G"

perish the thought, would miss your humour too much. As long as the lamb is done Boulangere style with all the proper trimmings and the red added right at the end for the gravy, a bit for the cook and a bit more for the table, got me kid. Do we need anyone to teach us the good things of life, never! Be hard to do without a G somewhere in there too.

Firelight @ 12.54pm: Thanks for your support. Already done a weekend with Tony R in late 2006 and one each with him and with Chris Howard in Bris in 2007.

Then 2 more 3-day weekends with Chris in Sydney in Nov 07, a week apart. That double dose was hard work, and I believe the firewalk is a real mankiller. Will go into training for it at least a month before.

Then certainly no more of either of them. Their next level is "listed" closer to $10K than 5, and to me that's a lot more than my next 10-year-old car, due in 3 years when the current (No 3) white Mazda/Laser wagon turns 20. I'm not a big spender, except on RSVP first dates.

I'd hoped for at least 3 or 4 more from Bris would want to meet Troy, Kenny and the Firelighter. But it looks like it's a dead horse, at least until Uni midwinter vacation. If not, please say so soon someone.

Just passed this huge billboard in our local suburb.

It used to read:

“Want longer lasting sex.
Ring 1300………”

It now reads:

“Want longer lasting xox.
Ring 1300……”

I am stupefied, mystified and amazed as to what to make of it.

There are numerous possibilities:

1. The advertiser is an ignorant male and doesn’t know what xox stands for;
2. The advertiser’s wife has finally stopped putting herself out and all he can get now, if he’s lucky, is xox.
3. The advertiser’s wife has told him to stop being so vulgar, and / or stopped answering the phone for him, given the nature of the calls from every loon and ratbag likely to be received from the original advertisement
4. Our local female Councillor has finally come good and cracked down on overt offensive advertising in her Ward;
5. Trade Practices/ Fair Trading have told him once and for all to advertise only what he is capable of delivering and seeing that it probably involved the sale of pills comprising a mixture of seaweed, bird’s nest, cowdung and herbal remedies snitched from his garden, and as longer lasting xox is more an issue of mind over matter, he feels more confident he can keep flogging his pills off with no regulatory side effects.
6. And finally I am sure that when one of my female acquaintances used to sign her emails off with xox, she meant just that and nothing more.

Red naturally, must report that I am the only dinosaur left in existence, seems like the humour of the red kills off others. Perhaps we could invoke Marcus to select one for you, he would not dare detract from one of his creations.
Overcast and cold here Hunter Valley.

Amdoing it

I wonder why you would want to change your RSVP name. I hope it is not because Marcus made fun of it.

I like your name, I think it is spicy, cheeky and shows great character. The Vic guys are missing something.

From WA, everything is far, I still have a bit of that mentality I think. If I was thinking about Perth To Albany, its a fair hike, but doable, so will maybe visiting Vic sooner than later.

TW - Sorry to hear about your troubles. Good for you for trying the firewalking, did it 7 years ago and it was great. Just be aware there is a LOT of selling that goes on at the AR seminars - leave your ID and credit card at home, take from the seminar what you need & leave the more American hype behind.

The message to take away is not that you need to spend money to learn to achieve, it is that occasionally we all need a kick up the butt not a massive credit card debt... Bit cynical about old Tony after seeing him on the Gold Coast (kind of incognito), paunchy, and less than glossy (though freakily large) -microscopic blonde girlfriend called Sage; wife evidently recently dropped for younger, thinner model... funny that never got a mention at the seminar...

Anyway each to their own... just don't spend anything there... don't sign up for anything... know that once you firewalk the rest is reinforcement and you can do it without the other courses - believe me I have, I just needed to prove it to myself then.

My more favoured hero is Winston Churchill - certainly not PC, definitely paunchy, incorrigibly witty, and totally out there at times...

My favourite quote?
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

Redgem and she'sthinkingofstoppingadmittingshe waseverdoingit @ this morning: thank you.

Yes G - my poetry publisher and friend, who was diagnosed at Xmas with a large aggressive brain tumour. She'd asked me in November to start spending a weekend with her across town each month this year, to help fold and envelope the 170 copies of the Mozzie ("the best poetry periodical in Australia' - Bruce Dawe.)

Handed over the editorship from her hospital bed to the bloke who'd edited and typeset 8 of the 16 pages for her for the last couple of years. My clerk and I enveloped the April edition yesterday arvo, and she posted them on her way home.

He wants me to start editing and setting 4 of the pages next month. Big honour. Back to work - that was lunch.

OG..I know I'm still a spring chicken. Wish the males my age saw it that way too.

As for the moniker..I really am wracking my brain for a new one. Toying with a couple and will decide soon. One's a bit corny and another 2 I'd come down to are probably going to the scrap heap as VDU pointed out how they too could be sabotaged by fellow bloggers, etc.. Thanks for that maam and I thought I was so clever too. Ah well, back to the drawing board.
Feel free to suggest one.. You can get it to me via one of our mutual friends or direct if you've a mind to. They'll give you directions.. Perhaps one could come to you whilst having your next Lambie session. Was it the red or white??

No K in the alphabet ... My god.. That would bugger us up well and truly wouldn't it? I'll talk to her ok?

Am taking a class at 1pm so need to fly..

Check you all later.. It's raining here but have a great day all.. Cheers "G"..

@1.48.. you're right but surely they could still see each other. Oh well.. guess they keep it exciting this way. Gotta love it...
Some info re Demartini Seminars coming your way. May be of interest!!
Was supposed to do a Tad James seminar last weekend but had to work the Sat. Damn.. My tickets were free so won't complain. Will see him next time round.

Dear IamInPerth

Yowie Hunting does not mean killing things.

You go round and collect droppings to see if there has been any improvement in population numbers.

I used to use a tape recorder and video camera, but now days these are unnecessary- I have learnt their language off by heart “Gimme beer. Gimme beer” etc

So I leave out an armchair around the fire with a can of beer on the armrest. Male Yowies are addicted to incohol with either a stag or white bear on the side.

Being dedicated as I am to the Preservation of Wildlife in Australia, I have also had to buy a generator and portable TV as they have taken a fancy to the footie as well.

That is how I came to know this particular male Yowie who is looking for a Woman.

But it may have to be someone younger than you as apparently he wants a tribe of little Yowies to repopulate the State Forest.

thelynathdiary at 11:40pm: Hello ma'am. Was that me by any chance that you were referring to as a learning facilitator/ spelling Nazi?

If so I'll remind you that it's fully 30 years since I stopped moonlighting as an evening TAFE lecturer in the management subjects. Now full-time in the inventing business, including my image on these blogs.

Where have I been hiding lately? A dear friend died on Tues last week and I helped to bury her on Thurs morning. Jewish funeral - all the blokes take turns on 3 shovels to put in the first foot of dirt, before the back-hoe takes over, after you leave.

Moped a bit for a couple of days after that, till a psychic ex-girlfriend (FD98) heard my miserable vibes from 30km away and drove me to the seaside for most of a day to cheer me up, bless her cotton sox and south-american nylon G-string.

Then another dear friend dropped her bundle over the damaged teenage grandchild she has to take care of, and her Cairns daughter woke me at 7.30am on Monday morning, phoning me to ask me to go and stay with her mother for a day or two and support her emotionally and cook her proper food, till she got a grip again.

Back home yesterday arvo in time for 2 overdue laundromat loads, 3 hours $$ work, home-cooked dinner and then tennis.

Out again tonight to a seminar by Dr John Demartini about "The Secret". A tout for his current 20-hour weekend $1700 life-improvement course in all states - Bribane in a fortnight. Still feeling bothered, and locked my keys in the car, so got home an hour late tonight. Thank you RACQ for being skilled in entering without breaking.

I'd go to the weekend too, but my credit card is still maxed after paying that much way up front for a 2-for-1 long weekend in Sydney in 5 months' time at Tony Robbins' Firewalk event.

Life's too short to waste it - always looking for extra clues to help me improve the quality of my remaining life, and that of those I influence. Bought 5 of his books tonight, instead of the course. Hope it'll be good value for my $125.

Lookit the time - if I had time, I'd do a touch-typing course. Seeyez all.

Oh G.@ 11.39 pm
Goodness gracious dear lady, you are but a spring chicken in the age of things of us Dinosaurs, but I am sure you would be joyously welcomed to our noble Chapter, only as a very junior member mind you. May I suggest a Non de Plume just to get up the nose of those that might want my proposed position with you, "Stilldoingit". We have one gracious declination of registration already tonight and are very seriously considering deleting the letter "K" from the alphabet, in respect to her sacrifice of such a great honour. This also will abreviate the language from some favourite words, but so be it.

I've noticed hasdoneit is getting quite excited about all this mown-muff talk. Sorta reminds me of Warped when the topic gets to bigger boobs. She might be able to oblige you?

Maybe it was in jest but I didn't like it.
Anyway, you seem surprised by my reaction Marcus, so I'll take it that there was no malice intended and leave it at that. OK???

What are you on about?

Posted by: laughsandtalks at May 1, 2008 12:13 AM

very spicy stuff, so the mystery, romance, etc is still alive and well, It is encouraging to see so many different ways of keeping the spice in the life.

Even with a relationship with a lot of love, without a bit of spice, life can become a bit boring.

Good to see this generation not fading quietly into the sunset.

Posted by: virgil at May 1, 2008 12:04 AM

who's that was not whose ...sorry teacher.
Where is teacher these days anyway?

Posted by: thelynathdiary at April 30, 2008 11:40 PM

Does it take long for you to get bored and need to start thinking of new things in order to keep the flame going?

Capt Thunderbolt couldn't even come up with this one.....
When I discovered my husband was having an affair I decided to call the other woman to make some enquiries and suggestions...

The subject of sex came up. I kid you not and I quote(remembering this is the height of the great passionate affair)
"Oh, sex with 'x' is just a mechanical manifestation of little importance"

A what ? yes, you heard her..a MECHANICAL MANIFESTATION...maybe she meant infestation...

that was a couple of years back... I wonder whose kissing him now????

Posted by: thelynathdiary at April 30, 2008 11:39 PM

Marcus.. copied the piece and is as follows..

I've noticed hasdoneit is getting quite excited about all this mown-muff talk. Sorta reminds me of Warped when the topic gets to bigger boobs. She might be able to oblige you?

Thank you for coming to my defence OG.. Maybe it was in jest but I didn't like it.
Anyway, you seem surprised by my reaction Marcus, so I'll take it that there was no malice intended and leave it at that. OK???
And as for the hasdoneit..Yep, have, but ages ago.. Am yet to find a suitable beau who warrants my "everything". When that does happen I'm sure I won't be able to wipe the smile off my dial and I doubt that I'll be on here blogging. Would then have better things to do wouldn't I??

AND.. I am now definitely going to change my profile name..Grrrr...

OG.. That's only a small part of what I do and is a bit of a sideline now but should I need an assistant I will most certainly keep you in mind..
Bye the way, how much longer do I have to wait to become inducted into the "Hall of Dinosaurs?" God, I must be getting close to being one of the oldest, (if not it) females on here aren't I?. God that hurts..Damn..

On that note I'll bid you all adieu... "G"

Hey Marcus.
I was clocked on the back flying quarter at a practice session at Bathurst back in 59 at 174.4 MPH with learners 3 stripes on an open wheeler. Believe me those 3 laps were enough to convince me that it was a game for better men than me. Any lady that can hit 280 k's plus has got my respect even if she was in a billy cart (aka ford).
Cheers OG

Marcus @ 5.10 pm.
That post bought tears to my eyes, I had the same thing happen, she also had this love of squeezing black heads, inflicting joyous pain on me. Mate I don't think G warrants the smack you gave her, even in jest, I am thinking of applying for the job as her assistant (unpaid and very willing). Goodness me is that really possible after 20 years, if you live long enough it is amazing the things you get to learn.
.
Redgem
Thank you for a most informative and instructional post I found it with Marcus's post a crack up, two excellent posts one after the other. As I said to him it's amazing the things you learn here. That Touche may have washed the lad out, but I am sure he will be back.

Long tall.
With all due respect you could have at least given the poor bloke a shower before departing, maybe a golden one!
Cheers OG.

And for the record, yes I am fully qualified to do them so I do know what I'm talking about..
I'm not getting excited at all, Just having a say as it is a topic I can comment on so your remark was uncalled for... "G"

If I lay a furry rug in front of the fire with the gourmet cheese platter my dog would eat it and then probably fart and snore on the rug.......now that's spicy !

Posted by: iaminperth at April 30, 2008 7:33 PM

Hey Capt. What's a Yowie.....last time I saw a Yowie it was made by Cadbury. I don't kill things, even my chooks and ducks I owned in Qld died of old age. My oldest horse died when she was 38 years old. I have shot a couple of wild dogs who were savaging new born foals and also a couple of magpies, one of whom had previously opened my skull requiring 7 stitches but apart from that I am not a hunter. I used to ride and we would go hunting but it was only after a bait that was being dragged. As a child in England we used to go out in the middle of the night and unblock the fox holes so that the foxes could go back down them when the hunt came thru. I am a pretty good camp cook though as I have done mustering on a property in Longreach and spent long days on a horse and then slept under the stars, unbelievable experience.

Posted by: iaminperth at April 30, 2008 7:31 PM

Thank you Redgem for the narrative Pastor Marcus really needs that...

Marcus - why do you bother with RSVP?? you really don't seem to like women and their foibles that much at all...

Sex is not a distant memory for me at all. Maybe others are being little discreet, kind of over that myself! And yes some women have a high sex drive despite children, careers, and men who like cottontails.

Funnily enough whenever I am asked about racing, I am always asked if it is 'Better than sex?' For me - No!
280+kph is just purely my technical abilities and the machine... yes a high, but sex is adaptability (steering round the curves, or slow into the crown and fast out!), matching expectations (holding the line, no matter what), and synchronicity (going for the big finish). Does that help???

Plucked chickens? Wheat stubble? Well I guess as a country boy you need to realise as a lot of people do, moisturisation is the key in a harsh climate like this...

Posted by: firelightlady at April 30, 2008 7:28 PM

I have flowers, beautiful gerberas and asian lillies and I had lunch, wonderful seafood at the Red Herring with a couple of glasses of chilled crisp white. The weather was delightful and the company lovely.....how lucky am I. Tailored linen pants, crisp white blouse, minimal gold jewellery and good old bonds nickers underneath. How good is that ??

Posted by: iaminperth at April 30, 2008 7:24 PM

How To Spice Things Up

Smoked paprika.

Mixed with a healthy dose of paranoia.

Serve chilled.

Tastes like chicken.

(See Ric Steins Mediterranean Adventures)

IAmInPerth

Seeing your so keen on everyone getting out and about and doing things.

Im going Yowie hunting this weekend.

This particular Yowie needs a Woman- unlike everyone else on rsvp, he doesnt care what she looks like.

You interested?

All you have to be able to do is yell Yowwwwwwwwwwwieeeeeeeeeeeee

Bit like the old Coo-ee in a way. Its Yowie talk.

It means Come and get it. Teas ready.

I think a Brazillian done by a trained person is the most beautifull thing a woman can have done for her friends male or female

Posted by: daff at April 30, 2008 6:34 PM

Well, well, well....never thought I would add my two cents worth here but couldnt resist telling a funny story! So, go easy on a first timer.

The man of the moment once commented that I wasnt trying hard enough in our relationship..... So, just to peak his interest, I lit the fire, laid a furry rug out in front of it with lots of cozy cushions thrown around, made a cheese platter and bought nice wine. Had candles lit and the table laid with all the goodies ready for when he came home from work.....we made ourselves comfortable in front of the fire, snacked and nibbled on the gourmet delights I had prepared and then ......guess what?......he fell asleep! So I left him there and went to bed alone and very frustrated!

How romantic? How spicy?

Posted by: longtallsally21 at April 30, 2008 5:34 PM

Marcus-
As for the plucked chook theory, no the pubic area doesn't look like this after a brazillian, as it doesn't look this way on the legs or underarms when waxing. This is due to the follicles of human hair being much smaller than that of feathers. It just may be a lil puffy for
