I don't know where you get the idea that any one on here needs your help Earl...I think there's enough multiple personalities going on in your head to keep you busy for the rest of your life!
Earl these characters of yours are so outdated, a suggestion for you, when you create a character who is meant to be a woman, don't think like a man!
Come on Earl we need to see some photo's of your characters on their profiles...I'm sure you can concoct some funny photo's for their profiles!
Make sure you get aginghippie's kombi in the background!

PS- On topic- Guys, I'm the nut-cracker- be warned.

Day four and still no friends...my addiction is decreasing but still kicking in slightly with each read...seems to be some intelligent life out there, but not much...this will help get me off these blogs.....not much fun talking in a vacuum....well at least I srill know I am right about everything...no one is arguing with me..note to self.get to work.
Posted by: istj54 at November 13, 2007 6:42 AM
But I do take after my grandmother "briliantzero"!
Can you not see that!????
I am proof that a good parent or grandparent role model, can have wonderful results.!!
This is how I LEARNT how important it was for me to be a good role model to my two daughters, and that it was what I DID that was most important, not just what I said!..(like some hypocritical parents!).
My daughters have copied my example in so many things, that I am SO PROUD of them!
I have used teaching by example in my volantary and welfare work as well!
If I say something to people on the blogs (give advice)..., you can be rest assured, that I say it, because it is something that I DO MYSELF!!..(I am not just raving on, like a hypocrite..I actaully do all these things MYSELF!)
So next time one of you thinks about making fun of me..remember that it actaully WORKS for me..(and probably alot of other people before me)..or I wouldn't be reccomending it to anyone else.!!
Maybe if you try some of my suggestions, you just might LIKE the RESULT????????!!!

OMG this blogging thing is addictive. RSVP may have to have a blog about the first week of my addiction.
Have I nothing else to do? Yes, but it can all wait till I finish my wine and hope someone else has posted in the meantime.

What is that man wearing? One of my dates actually turned up dressed like that. I was polite and had a drink with him but was very thankful that few people saw me with him.

*Sigh* Like I said before 3.11.7 on Biggest Turn Offs: Butts, Bad Breath and Smoker's Kisses.
>"brilliantblue, I wouldn't waste time listening to the rattlings of an empty can.
>It is a real turn off.
>Best consign it to the bin and have it sent to the tip out of harms way.
>At least you won't be constantly tripping over it and listening to its tinny, prattling echo going on and on and on.
>Then too, there is no risk of being jabbed by the sharp edges of an empty container.
I seem to have this eye problem too; they glaze over at certain blogs...especially from empty vessels.

Somelifeinmeyet....its a pity you didn't take after you're grandmother!

To .."antykaz"...yes, all politicains promise..but if they are still in power and DON"T deliver, then at least theyare accountable!
Talk is cheap, and those not in power can promise, and if they don't get in, they can't be scrutinised as to whether they would have delivered.!
I just prefer a good budgeter, (of either party), and so far Mr. Howard has been very accountable.
I like someone who has a backbone, who doesn't bow to the peer group pressure that others try to put on them.( like Mr. Howard...he is not a "try hard"..doing whatever the voters want, even if its not logical).
I admire someone who will stand up for what they believe in, even if the "rabble" rail on against them!
I think that you may have noticed "aunty kaz" that I do NOT bend to the school yard bullies on these blogs who keep telling me to "go away", and make sladerous and unfounded comments against me!
This is because those that I admire in my life have always had strong principles, and been able to stand by them., despite peer group pressure!
I began admiring my grandmother as a young child, and how well she managed even though she was a widow.
I have never been one to bow to peer group pressure at school or anywhere!..(so the "clique" on this site should give up harassing me now!)
The bullies at our school dropped out because they were either expelled, or got pregnant and had to get married!..(whereas I went onto university!!)
The wages of being a bully are failure! I am sure that all the bullies on these blogs are all failures in their personal and family lives, as they try to control others by slander and lies, rather than by love and warmth!
My grandmother was a winner, she was kind but strong!

And yes Mr Howard doesn't spend money he doesn't have....doesn't stop him from promising it out though................k
Posted by: auntykaz at November 4, 2007 11:27 AM
Promies made during political campaigns should be taken with a grain of salt.
They are nothing more than a lure to elicit votes.
Whether they deliver or not the fact that they are made is part and parcel of the political campaign process...........k
Posted by: auntykaz at November 4, 2007 10:50 AM
yes 'brilliantblue', all politicians make promises that they can't keep, but if they are IN government for ten years, its a little harder to hide any lies! ...(so therefore they are MORE accountable)
Talk is cheap, and any one in the opposition can promise anything they like, and if they don't get in , they are not accountable.
When Hawke suprised even HIMSELF by suddenly getting in, then he had to make good on all these outrageous promises, like "no child will be living in poverty by the year..."..etc:!!
The money wasn't there, so what did that mean...DEBT , DEBT, DEBT!
We have an ageing population, and alot of children, and not enough aged in the middle years to pay tax,..so commonsense says .."go easy on your expediture, as the money isn't coming in".
A country is like a big house, and the primeminister is like the 'big daddy'...and I will sleep better at night, if the "parents" know what they are doing, and can run the home without me having to spend sleepless nights worrying!
Isn't that why we elect the "parents"..to run the show for us, so that we can handle other matters of daily life, that need our attention??????
I would much rather let the "good parents" dothe worrying for me!
Posted by: somelifeinmeyet at November 3, 2007 7:12 PM
reply to "victoriadownunder"..yes it is sadly true what you said about the credit cards(and people spending what they don't have).
I'm not keen on them, as I am yet to see anyone who really has enough control over themselves to mange one.
As an old fashioned budgeter, I avoid them, as I have the strength to wait until I can actually afford something.
Posted by: somelifeinmeyet at November 3, 2007 7:03 PM
Gold! Pure gold! Although I did fall out of my chair with lower abdomen pains after seeing the last part.
Posted by: niceguy457 at November 2, 2007 11:14 PM
Somelifeinmeyet....they all make promises they can't keep....its part and parcel of a political campaign!
Posted by: brilliantblue at November 2, 2007 10:48 PM
I'm sorry somelifeinmeyet, you are very wrong when you say "One CANNOT spend money that one doesn't have!"... yes, one can - all you need is a credit card!!!
Any financial institution will hand one out with little regard to the customer's ability to repay and thousands of people pay the price (no pun intended). However, many of us use our credit wisely.
Be it Government or individuals, we are all responsible for our actions, no matter what choices we make along the way.
Posted by: victoriadownunder at November 2, 2007 9:03 PM
dont you think 11yrs is long enough
Posted by: chad1958 at November 1, 2007 8:05 PM
I understand all about how to mange a household budget, as I naturaly manage my own.
One CANNOT spend money that one doesn't have!
Ive noticed that Mr Howard is a GOOD budgeter and doesn't spend money that he doesn't have.!!!!
He DOESN'T promise things that he can't deliver too..even if the "kids" (the australian people)..kick up a stink about it!!
On the other hand, I see the Labour Party as those who got Australia into a lot of debt (in Hawkes day)by being BAD parents (bad bugdeters)..by promising the "kids "anything they want, to win their favour,,(their votes), even if they couldn't afford it and didn't have the money!!!
I have heard people say..".I like the labour party because they are going to give me this, and give me that, they have promised me this ,and that"...........but of course they HAVEN'T the money to do it, so where will the money come from?
If we have to borrow it, then we will be OBLIGATED big time to someone that maybe we SHOULDN't be.!! (a foreign power!)
I prefer Mr. Howard..(the good parent) who is firm and can stand of the self-centred little brats chucking a tantrum when they don't get what their parents can't afford!
If we can afford it, fine, if not, then we may have to WAIT , and work it into our budget when we can!
It doesn't mean that Mr. Howard WON"T deliver it, but we will get it when we can afford it......(delayed gratification).
As the old saying says.."all good things come to those who wait".

I saw the second R.S.V.P. ad on tv today, during the day, during the "kerry-Anne" show on channel 9! It was good to see it during the day for a change.!!
(Only late at night, creates an unpleasant association I think with those late night "call me" sex ads, that are so prevelant in the evenings.!!!)
The day time showing is far more respectable, and sane and normal.
A lady speaking about R.S.V.P. on Kerry-annes show, mentioned that there were quite alot of "R.S.V.P. babies"..(Children of couples who met on the site.)
Well management, I would be quite interested to hear about some of these stories!..Please post them on the site as articles.
Thanks!

First I receive a kiss back saying get lost and thehn I reply I like yoursense of humour and then I get another reply and want to say "i wonder if you even read my profile" but they are not available to me.
I am sure I am not the only one suffering because of inadequate choices.
How about we are allowed to use custom reply for a small fee but a filter removes email and phone numbers ?

Pinotnoir58,
I think that you need a lesson in recent history my friend, in discussing the relative achievements of governments. It was Hawke/Keating who freed up the Australian economy and floated the $. It was Howard as Treasurer who reigned over 22% interest rates (when the home loan rate was capped by legislation at 14.5% and thus had limited impact on the bond rates).
It is Conservative governments who have taken Australia to Vietnam and Iraq - 2 wars that were ill advised and ill -founded out of misguided loyalty to US governments, although in Howard's case it is misguided loyalty to an American President beholding to the religious right of his country, thus imbroiling us in a religious (Muslim) war started by Christians that they have no chance of resolving.
What has this government achieved....very little when you consider the amount of revenue flowing into its coffers from GST and the resources boom. Our infrastructure is falling apart, we have no plans for the future of young Australians and are surviving by selling off the natural resources of our nation rather than creating a smarter society.
Howard is living his idea of his great political hero - one Robert G Menzies (pig-iron Bob to those that dont know history) - who sold off our iron ore to....Japan, who gave it back to us in spades...then ran away to England, some hero eh!!!
Like the name says...conservative, retaining what you have without wanting change - no new ideas, just outdated ideals.
You are living in the past and come across as just another upper class twit with delusions of grandeur and a superiority complex who easily influenced by lies and deceipt.....come to think of it, you should fit in well on RSVP!!!

Posted by: auntykaz at October 30, 2007 9:57 AM
I was thinking...(Nope, didn't hurt)...Aside from the fact that the guards are paid ridiculously low wages (so therefore come in as low income earners, so way beneath our very own Brissie Lord's standards) one of those furry palace guards would make Lordthingie a really good son-in-law...Those guards are trained to withstand abuse, torment, and all sorts of attention seeking kinds of behaviours...just stand rigid, silent and stony-faced...Lordthingie could do a highland fling in his cowboy hat, to an Elvis medley, slurping the old vino...!!! The son-in-law could just stand there and think: "Schmuck!"
Just for the record, for those who don't know the Bris area...there is no Hamilton Heights - unless he's standing on top of the hill...it could be the name of the private nursing home behind the pub...

I forgot to add.
It's not just a matter of getting back our ancestral estates.
It's those damn Germans on the throne.
Don't, Madame Lynth, think for a moment that I am in the least bit interested in seeking an audience with Lilibet.
Posted by: lordcholmondeley at October 29, 2007 6:02 AM
Madam Lynth
It's not the daughter. It's SHE. The prospective mother in law that the poor fellow has to watch. SHE has already planned a London wedding, and is heading over there shortly to ensure that the romance is on track (#?!)! and expects me to pay for flying in everyone from around the globe. Now if I could grab those ancestral estates that my family was dispossessed of my that fat Henry, I might conceivably be able to tickle the kitty.
And my daughter was named after the Duchess of Duke Street. Sad isn't it.

Oh Boy!! The Company is called ClearMy Mail and costs you per email address.
Every piece of detected spam is held in their servers .
They send you an email if they find something not in their data bases.
You can get them to scan your entire contacts list and they hold that in their servers.
They intercept all mail coming out of your email accounts from your provider and weed out the rubbish.
So far they are the only company that has a near perfect success rate and I have tried them all.
It is a yearly subscription,so you only get what you pay for.

So your Lordship, (Can I presume another of your titles is Pinotnoir1958?)
it appears your daughter and her mother may be in for a little surprise.
If 2nd Lt. Furryhat has accepted a Commission he is in for the looooong hall..
Why would your daughter want to end his highly esteemed Military career?,,,,seems to show little understanding of the traditional way of life of the true Aristocracy and more than a bit of social climbing....
Top International Ambassador...hmmm. needs to be a little older than Furryhats current age and preferably have a distinguished career in the Military Banking or Politics behind him . No wives called Sharon or Kylie allowed.....

My daughter's boyfriend is from the aristocracy, went to the same University as Prince William, and, with my daughter's help (and if SHE has any say in it, her mother dread the thought) will eventually opt out of the brass the pomp and ceremony and follow his father's distinguished footsteps as a top international ambassador.

Re: the Lord saving you from Cretins Pinotnoir...don't you know
the Lord helps those who help themselves...he wants you to save yourself first...
Do you mean to say your daughter (the one in London, the one with the Internet connected, the one with the furry hatted boyfriend..Officer or ranks? ..)is in such close proximity to Her Maj that you feel you could almost call her Lilibet and drop in when you are in London?
Well, what a debut into London Society...far from the Colonies now eh?

Some people on the blogs are so rude and self-absorbed in everything about themselves, that they think anyone who isn't stroking their egos are boring!
I post a wide variety of subjects including jokes, tv show comments, health, medical, psychology, the enviroment, social issues, recipies..etc:..too much for them to handle.
Why doesn't the mangagement stop printing these nasty people's blogs, and so make room for interesting blogs instead???
How about it management?
Just tonight I read a blog from a newcomer who was attacked, and said that in future he would be just readingthe blogs, and not posting!!
Another person then accused a new blogger of being the old "cynical and anonymous". ....(the same nasty thing that a number of bloggers said to me when I first started blogging).

gedintolife. Men whose looks don't follow mainstream's concept of attractive will & do attract me, there is a broad spectrum that is attractive for various reasons. Personality, the willingness to listen, to engage in back & forth information rather than dominating the conversation with "me,me,me" is a factor in what IS attractive.

While we are on the subject of boring, popping into each of the blogs and declaring them such is rather ironic coming from you, Somelifeinmeyet.

Ummm, "common cretins of this world??!!" Not quite too sure what your post is getting at, but you seem to have a problem with working/lower class people. I didn't know lower/working class was an infestation on Australian society.

Interesting... but missed out on the category of women that bug the hell out of me... the prima donna "Want it all" princesses that expect a guy to be good looking, rich, well-connected, generous with his money and affection, well-groomed, grounded, enlightened/born-again... oh... and the one that really bugs me - this mythical guy will also be sufficiently needy (despite all the above) to want to call you every second hour to see how you're doing. Unfortunately, that seems to be 80% of the people I've come across on this site and those like it.
Back in the real world, take a risk girls. Let Mr "Not quite perfect" have his day in the sun - you might just like the results.
For the people who thought the last shot in the ad was referring to women as nut crackers.... I think it was more a allusion to cracked nuts. ;) i.e. Insane! Crazy in the Coconut... (Cue Avalanches LP)
Anyhoo...

Wraeca
It is good to see someone like you find someone on the internet.
You remind me a bit of my eldest daughter who in London found the love of her life on the internet (altho she won't tell that to her mother who thinks the internet is the work of the Devil).
So my dt is happily going out for over a year now with, of all things, A Palace Guard.

Could I just say one thing.
I found both advertisements extremely unsophisticated and pitched to the lower class or working class in Australia.
It is bad enough that this element which infests Australian life looks as if it will be disposing of a decent conservative government and bringing in the usual working class rabble who will destroy the economy and Australia at the same time.
The Lord save me from the common cretins of this world!

Umm. Actually BK, you were right the first time. Actress is 'discriminatory' and old school. We now use male and female actors for a warm gender-neutral glow ; )
Posted by: gratitudegirl at October 23, 2007 9:47 PM
Note to self: more sleep required.
I did *of course* mean to say "actresses".
D'oh!
Posted by: brushkestrel at October 23, 2007 9:41 PM
In reply to ieightnothing's post of October 18 (8:35 AM)
Yup, that's because to show actors portraying women in a bad light in this advert would risk attracting the 'discrimination' banner, even if it is balanced by the other advert.
The white male is the only 'acceptable' target to put down for humour/amusement purposes at the moment, because any other group would scream "discrimination".
Yes, this is in itself discrimination. Everyone is protected except for one group. Yes, at present it seems to be both "socially acceptable" and legal. No this isn't fair.
However, no, I wouldn't like to see legislation being brought in to try and change this. I see the problem as too much legislation, not too little. Allow some balance and openness, and no one group can feel targetted...

I saw the second ad onthe tv again ast night, and enjoyed it yet again!
I wouldn't have minded if it was a bit longer, as it ended too soon I thought, with a few more funny things left unsaid!
Management...is there the longer version in the cupboard?????..I say, playthat one too!

but images of 'real' bad women are absent, and instead metaphors are substituted.
Anyone like to comment on why that might be?
Yep. A 'bad' woman is a figment of men's deflated egos? Hard to find one in real life?
Easy tigers, tongue firmly in cheek. Very funny, and had me almost about to write L.O...no, still can't do it. Though now I do get what 'pride in your appearance means'. Hair issues. Tres amusing.
Posted by: gratitudegirl at October 21, 2007 8:45 PM
This is a typical Ad from a try-hard Ad. agency. It is certainly funny (I especially loved the nutcracker) and the Attenborough-style voiceover is very suitable.
But I query the statistics. After 'kissing' a couple of hundred RSVP femmes and then meeting about a hundred, I've found at least 5% to be nutcrackers, but maybe that's because my target age group (55-65) is older and more self-assured than their younger sisters.
And like most try-too-hard Ads, this one spent all its time grabbing your attention, and then totally failed to close the sale.
Didn't even say what 'RSVP' was, let alone how to contact you.
So I'd give this Ad. 90% for effort and 20% for effectiveness.
And that's an overall score of 20%, if you're the one paying for the Ad.
Back to the drawing board.

Don't despair *just* yet woodnwine, I have possibly found someone here on the blogs. Well, I should actually say I *have* found someone, but I don't want to jinx anything just yet....
Posted by: wraecca at October 18, 2007 8:56 PM
Woodnwine..Have faith my friend it will happen when you least expect, but I know what you mean.. it must be written on my forehead Desperate & Dateless apparentley we seem more attractive if we have options.

Makes me wonder about dating. What hope is there really? Very little, it seems.
Posted by: woodnwine at October 18, 2007 9:23 AM
It's interesting to me that while both ads appear to raise the same issues for men and women, actors are brought in to demonstrate examples of bad men, but images of 'real' bad women are absent, and instead metaphors are substituted.
Anyone like to comment on why that might be?

lol seraphsuzie and thelynathdiary... I'm glad I have at least two girls talking about me! ;-)
Actually came across, emailed and had a chat to a nice girl today... so restored my faith a little. he he
thelynathdiary, can you give me some ideas on what you were thinking about how I should rewrite my profile?
Michael.
Posted by: mjgoldcoast at October 17, 2007 9:14 PM
Yes, I like this ad too..(but unlike some bloggers I have a sense of humour!!)
I loved the bit with the nuts and the nut cracker too!
Its great that people are creative and can think these ads up.
Congratulations yet again R.S.V.P.!!

lynathdiary - or Patience.... its nice to know you have been reading my profile :-) and that you care... and tsk tsk don't be so bitter :-)
And I still disagree...
Posted by: seraphsuzie at October 17, 2007 4:41 PM
Oh how wrong you are Suzie..he most certainly is writing an ad campaign and if he doesn't appeal to his target demographic then he won't be a best seller will he?
You gave up Media Studies? Good!
Posted by: thelynathdiary at October 17, 2007 4:33 PM
UniqueOpportunity1 - just sent a kiss.. hes trying to sell a job?? What is RSVP coming to? Get a date AND a job in the same place? Not impressed!! Telemarketing on RSVP.. great just what we need!..NOT!!
Posted by: seraphsuzie at October 17, 2007 4:15 PM
I understand the idea of writing to your target audience as it is an ad in a way - maybe even the most important you can write since you may have to live with the 'customer' for the rest of your life! lol
I'm just not totally sure how I should be rewriting it if that's the case. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Michael.
P.S. seraphsuzie, I did reply to your post thanking your for your compliments and whishing you luck as well. Not sure if it is yet to be approved.
Posted by: mjgoldcoast at October 17, 2007 3:58 PM
thelynathdiary...target audience? He's not writing an ad campaign nor a CV for a new job.. geez!

Re BrushKestrel's blog on October 15, 2007 7:01 PM, which said:
Ohhh, fantastic :-)
That one last word ("... inflatable") makes the whole thing. I laughed so hard at that, it's great :-)
Yep. Love that ending. Makes you wonder what the *other* inflatable would be, presuming that one of them is, in fact, a female blow-up doll. Hmmmm, not sure if we'd want to *really* know the answer to that one......lol
Happy Hunting everyone!!

nice ad, liked the nut cracker at the end
Posted by: exxe at October 17, 2007 12:07 PM
mjgoldcoast,
you have lots of good things in yoru profile but in my opinion you need a rewrite to appeal to your target audience.
It has nothing to do with looks (and yours are fine)
This ad is just as amusing as the first and great publicity for the women waiting at RSVP..maybe it will generate a new rush.
If it doesn't RSVP could you consider a Fire Sale? What about a Stock up for Christmas Sale?
As old stock(in more ways than one) it's about time you made an effort to shift me I think.... if it means marking me down to 50% off for nearing use by date so be it....

Hey seraphsuzie,
Thanks for the compliments.
I don't really understand the lack of interest either. Glad someone thinks I'm cute... you tell em girl! ha ha
I'm sure there's a nice girl out there... will be interesting to see if the lucky girl is on RSVP! ...stay tuned. ;-)
I've seen you on the blogs a fair bit and you seem like a nice girl too.
Have a good one and all the best!

Is your bemusement about the map of Tassie serious, WoodnWine? If so, I'm not about to explain it! My track record with RSVP seems pretty good at the moment (I haven't been censored, yet) so I am loathe to spoil it.

Posted by: kateegirl at October 16, 2007 7:30 PM
hey mjgoldcoast.. I checked out your profile and I don't understand why you are snapped up... your very cute and intelligent and interesting :-) There has to be someone out there for you!!
Posted by: seraphsuzie at October 16, 2007 7:00 PM
Ad looks good & a bit of a laugh!\
...but if only finding a nice girl were as easy as signing up to RSVP!
The hard part is then finding a girl that is even willing to converse, let alone go on a date!
Five months, 230+ kisses and 15 emails later I can only assume that girls are looking for super hot looks... which then brings me to the conclusion that I maybe don't possess them? ha ha
(But hey, any girls out there in their 20s that want a nice guy with high values/morals, who is fit, caring & supportive - but not clingy, well employed, a bit of a go getter - both career & life in general, who even rides a Harley?)
Oh, well all fun... and with some luck some nice girl will eventuate from it. :-)
Michael.

Why the map of Tassie at the beginning? Liked the nut cracker.
Posted by: woodnwine at October 15, 2007 10:46 PM

And nice touch at the end, but interesting that the other ad didn't reference the woman's equivalent of inflatables... Ahem? :)
